Introduction. The Association of Composers and Composers of Uzbekistan (original name "Union of Composers of Uzbekistan") was established by the decision of the Council of People's Commissars of Uzbekistan 193203R in 1938. In order to ideologically and creatively unite composers and musicologists working in the country, the People's Artist of Uzbekistan, famous composer and conductor Tolibjon Sodiqov was officially authorized to form an association. In accordance with the resolution of the People's Commissars of the Government of the Republic of February 21, 1940 № 258, the first congress of the Union of Composers of Uzbekistan was scheduled for October 1941 and the members of the board were approved:

The life and work of Mutal (Mutavakkil) Muzainovich Burhanov, composer of the National Anthem of the Republic of Uzbekistan, People's Artist of Uzbekistan, winner of the Hamza and Berdakh State Prizes, is closely connected with the history of modern Uzbek professional art. This unique talent introduced our country to the world with his harmonious, juicy and attractive works. His works are distinguished by their originality and originality. The composer's songs and romances, symphonic and vocal-symphonic works, stage and film music reach the heart of the listener. Mutal Burhanov's memorable melodies are also complex. Because with their melody they express the richness of the human inner world and the delicate and sensitive nature, thoughts and feelings of the author.

Mutal Burhanov, the first son of the Uzbek people, was born on May 5, 1916 in Bukhara. One of the commissioner's three uncles, Mukammil Burhanov, was an activist in the Bukhara Jadid movement.

Faced with the hardships of life, Mutal Burhanov studied first in old religious schools and then in new schools during his childhood and adolescence. He has been interested in and loved music since childhood. He learned to play the tanbur first from his uncle Mukammil Burhanov, then from the famous tanbur player Ota Giyas Abdugani. In 1928-1932 he studied at the Uzbek Institute of Music and Choreography in Samarkand. The classes of teachers such as Ota Jalal Nosirov, Ota Giyas Abdugani, Domla Halim Ibodov, Hoji Abdulaziz Rasulov, Abdukodir Ismailov, Ahmadjon Umrzakov, Matyokub Kharratov, Abdurahmon Umarov, Abdurauf Fitrat and Burhanovs were held in the houses of S.Ayniy, A.Chulan. Creative evenings with the participation of Elbek, young H. Olimjon were an unforgettable school of life and creativity for Mutal Burhanov.

After graduation, Mutal Burhanov worked as a music director and music director at the Hamza and Lohuti Drama Theaters in Tashkent in 1932-1935. Dreaming of studying composition, he studied at the Uzbek Opera Studio, which opened in 1935 at the Moscow Conservatory. In 1939, in the main course of the Moscow Conservatory, he continued his studies in the class of Professor S.N. Vasilenko. With the outbreak of World War II, he joined the army of volunteers to defend the city of Moscow, and in 1942 became seriously ill, returned to Tashkent for treatment and creative work. Continuing his studies from 1946, in 1949 he successfully completed the composition of the Moscow Conservatory.

Mutal Burhanov's hardships and slanders did not break his will. “Truth bends, but does not break,” he encouraged himself, created, and the truth emerged. The main part of the composer's work is vocal music. He began his career as a student with the novel "O Nightingale" based on the poems of the famous poet A. Lohuti and the song "Buti nozaninam" ("My Beauty") and the ballad "Love Flame" for Mashrab, solo and symphony orchestra. During the war, the songs "Warrior's Song" (Words of Harmony), "Airplane" (words of H.Olimjon), "You Fly" (Words of Z.Diyor), "If Cotton opens" (Word of Humility), "In Love" (Words of Harmony), He created romances "Dilbari-mo" (word by A. Lohuti). In the film "I'm charming" written by Mutal Burhanov, "I'm charming" performed by Botir Zokirov, "Star song" performed by Klara Jalilova and "Doppi tikdim ipaklari tillodan" (lyrics by T. Tola), "Spring song" performed by Laylo Sharipova (lyrics by T. Tola ) and the song of an Arab woman in the film "Planes did not land", "My beautiful land" performed by Yunus Turaev (lyrics by E.Vakhidov) and "My beautiful city of Nukus" (lyrics by I.Yusupov), "Beautiful Fergana" (lyrics by A.Bobojon) performed by Tamarakhonim , "Uyghur qiziga" (lyrics by Mamatokhunova), "Song of the Motherland" (lyrics by G. Gulom), "Yorim bor" (lyrics by Mirtemir), "Beautiful Uzbekistan" (lyrics of fame), wonderful songs from the movie "Rich and Servant" wrote a wide wing. Indeed, it is no exaggeration to say that Mutal Burhanov was one of the first to introduce the genre of romance into the musical life of our republic, opening a new way. Among the composer's works in this genre, the novel "Namedonam chi nom dorad" ("I do not know your name") for the solo and symphony orchestra "You did not smile" and the ghazal of the great poet Navoi have a special place. This romance-poem was first performed by David Mullokandov, associate professor of the Tashkent Conservatory, who had a beautiful and pleasant voice, and then by Botir Zokirov. "The sound of the heart" (poem by T. Tola), "When it comes ..." (poem by N. Kamilov), "Why did you leave" (poem by A. Fitrat), "My garden will not forget me" (poem by U. Nasir), " The poet's ballad "Dream" (word Mashrab) has been brought to a harmonious level.

Mutal Burhanov has also performed in vocal and symphonic genres. In 1949 he wrote the cantata "Gullagay Uzbekistan" for solo, choir and symphony orchestra, vocal-symphonic poem "Spring Birds" (words by S. Umari), waltz song "White Gold" (words by I. Yusupov). This work was staged by M. Turgunbaeva and a documentary film was made for the dance ensemble "Spring". Dedicated to the 525th anniversary of Alisher Navoi, in collaboration with A. Aripov he created a vocal-symphonic poem "Poem to Alisher Navoi" (1968), "Epitaph" for the choir and symphony orchestra, dedicated to the memory of those who died in the war with the poet in 1975.

Mutal Burhanov was one of the first in the early 1950s to sing Uzbek folk songs "Gozal qizga", "Yorlarim", Tajik folk songs "Sari kohi baland" and "Zarragul", Karakalpak folk songs "Bibigul", "Ayriliq", Uyghur folk song "Sayra". , the Kazakh folk song "Dudaray", in the following years the Afghan folk song "Chashmi siyoh", the Iranian folk songs - "Guli gandum" and "Damkul-damkul" for the acapella choir, successfully solved a complex creative problem.

Unique talent Mutal Burhanov created the opera "Alisher Navoi" in 1990, dedicated to the 550th anniversary of Navoi. He reworked the drama Uygun and I.Sultan, composed a libretto adapted to the opera genre and created attractive music, and in the late 1990s he saw the stage at the Navoi State Academic Bolshoi Theater of Opera and Ballet of Uzbekistan.

Film music also plays an important role in Mutal Burhanov's creative activity. In 1950-1970 he directed "The Servant with the Rich" (directed by L. Fayziev), "Abu Ali ibn Sino" (directed by K. Yormatov), ​​"Planes did not land" (directed by Z. Sobitov), ​​"Surayyo" (directed by U.Nazarov), "The Abandoned Bride" (directed by Y.Azamov) left a deep mark on the history of our culture. In collaboration with M. Leviev and I. Akbarov, charming songs created for the films "I'm fascinated" and "Fishermen of the Aral Sea" are being played.

Performed at the Uzbek State Academic Drama Theater named after Hamza: "Alisher Navoi" (Uygun and I.Sultan's play, 1943), "Hikmat" (Sh.Tuygun's play, 1950), "The rich and the servant" (Hamza's play, 1953) y.) to the performances of Mutal Burhanov. The composer also composed music for H.Olimjon's play "Aigul and Bakhtiyor", which was staged at the Republican Puppet Theater.

Mutal Burhanov created "Mavrigi" for orchestra of Uzbek folk instruments, various poems, suites, suites for symphony orchestra, waltzes and poems for violin and cello ensemble. A series of songs will be started for the children's choir.

Mutal Burhanov celebrated his 80th wedding anniversary with new musical works. Dedicated to his friend Alisher Navoi, he wrote a song for the poem "Shiru Shakar", a song for the children's choir "Vatan bize mehribon" (words of M. Mirzo), a song for the acapella choir "Bukhara Sharif" (Rudaki's poem). At the same time, Mutal Burhanov was the first in the history of Uzbek music to create a five-part REQUIEM for soloists, choir and symphony orchestra called "Eternal Memory". The play is dedicated to the memory of the great sons of the Uzbek people Abdulla Qodiri, Abdurauf Fitrat, Abdulhamid Cholpon, Usmon Nosir, Fayzulla Khodjaev, the composer's elder brother Misboh, uncles Mashariddin, Mukammil and Muammir Burhanov, who fell victim to the years of repression. This work was performed for the first time on May 14, 1996 at the Turkiston Palace in the concert program dedicated to the anniversary of the composer. S.Kobulova, F.Zokirov, master of artistic words T.Muminov, A.Abdukadirov, national symphony orchestra under the direction of Z.Haqnazarov, joint choirs under the direction of choirmasters A.Khamidov and J.Shukurov took part.

The anniversary concert dedicated to the 85th anniversary of Mutal Burhanov was held on May 17, 2001 at the Alisher Navoi Opera and Ballet Theater.

Conclusion. Mutal Burhanov was awarded the honorary titles of "Honored Artist of Uzbekistan", "People's Artist of Uzbekistan", the Medal "Labor Glory", the Order "For Great Services" in 1999, the Order "El-Yurt Hurmati" in 2001 for his contribution to the development of music culture in Uzbekistan. was awarded.

Mutavakkil Burhanov died on June 15, 2002 in the city of Bukhara.
