Abstract: Artist of the Republic of Uzbekistan, member of the American Association of Composers, Authors and Publishers, composer, conductor, educator, Mustafa Bafoev serunum, one of the most versatile artists. He joined the Composers' Union of Uzbekistan in the late 1970s with his catchy musical works, influenced by bright, modern melodies and traditional stylistic currents.

The article describes the method of teaching the life and work of composer Mustafa Bafoev to students of music in higher education.

Introduction. The Association of Composers and Composers of Uzbekistan (original name "Union of Composers of Uzbekistan") was established by the decision of the Council of People's Commissars of Uzbekistan 193203R in 1938. In order to ideologically and creatively unite composers and musicologists working in the country, the People's Artist of Uzbekistan, famous composer and conductor Tolibjon Sodiqov was officially authorized to form an association. In accordance with the decision of the People's Commissars of the Government of the Republic of February 21, 1940 № 258, the first congress of the Union of Composers of Uzbekistan was held in October 1941.

He joined the Composers' Union of Uzbekistan in the late 1970s with his catchy musical works, influenced by bright, modern melodies and traditional stylistic currents.

Mustafa Bafoev was born on November 10, 1946 in the village of Ganchkash, Kagan district, Bukhara region. From 1953 to 1960 he studied at the secondary school. In 1960-1964, Mustafa studied at the Bukhara Music School, and then at the Tashkent State Conservatory, majoring in guitar. He was taught by Associate Professor VA Belenky, Professor Mardon Nasimov. After successfully graduating from the conservatory in 1969, the young specialist was sent to Bukhara State Pedagogical Institute. In 1972, Mustafa entered the conservatory for the second time to study the secrets of composition. Professors studied diligently in composition in the class of B. Gienko, in composition in A. Kozlovsky. In 1977-1979 he improved his professional skills in assistant internships. At present, he worked as a teacher at the Department of Uzbek Folk Instruments of the Tashkent State Institute of Culture. In 1980, he was invited to conduct the orchestra of Uzbek folk instruments at the Radio of Uzbekistan. Six years later, he began working as the orchestra’s chief conductor and artistic director. From 2000 to 2003 he was the artistic director and chief conductor of the orchestra of folk instruments under the Uzbekraks. Since 2003 he has been working as an associate professor of composition and instrumentation at the State Conservatory of Uzbekistan.

Composer Mustafo Bafoev has been creating attractive, melodic musical works in various forms and genres of music. During his student days he wrote the symphonic poem "The Legend of Shirok" (1974), "Holiday Overture" (1976), concert-rhapsody for trumpet (1978), as well as pesa, sonatina, sonata, poem, skertso. The Torley Quartet was performed in Novosibirsk in 1973, and the series "Five Rubies" (1975), written for Navoi's poems for sound and piano, was performed at a festival of young composers in Leningrad. The oratorio "Bukhoronoma" (words by O. Khalil) was awarded the 3rd degree diploma at the All-Union Competition of Young Composers in 1978 in Moscow.

Mustafa Bafoev's works have been performed in festivals and symposiums in the country and abroad: in the concert program dedicated to the 1000th anniversary of Abu Ali Ibn Sino, a 7-part "Poem-fresco" for solo and a cappella choir composed by the composer Ibn Sina's rubai (1980 Tashkent and Moscow). Vocal-symphonic poem "Friendship" written by the poet J.Kamol in the concert program of the decade of literature and art of Uzbekistan in Tajikistan (1981), choral song "Ajab nozik" written by J.Kamol at the All-Union Music Festival (Tallinn in March 1983); Choreographic miniature "Star of Al Khorezmi" (Moscow, 1983) at the concert dedicated to the 1200th anniversary of the birth of Musa al-Khwarizmi; Choir poem "Sounds of status" in the concert program of the Second International Symposium on Musicology (1983, Samarkand); The concert program of the festival of choral art in Armenia includes solo, oboe, percussion and choir "Spring" (folk word) (1986), soloist, choir and symphony orchestra "Flower, bright Uzbekistan" (G. Gulom, A. Aripov words, created in Moscow in 1986); “Tantanali qasida-poema” composed by Turob Tola in the concert program of the Decade of Literature and Art of Uzbekistan (1987, Ukraine); Symphony No. 2 "Memory of Ibn Sina" composed for chamber symphony orchestra in the concert program of the Third International Symposium on Musicology (1987, Samarkand); Excerpt from the TV ballet "Ulugbek Burji" at the concert dedicated to the 650th anniversary of Mirzo Ulugbek (1994, Samarkand); In the concert program dedicated to the 660th anniversary of Amir Temur "Series of melodies and songs" (1996, Samarkand); Performance "The Great Silk Road" at the event dedicated to the Days of Uzbekistan (1997, Paris). This performance took place at the first Sharq Taronalari International Music Festival in Samarkand in 1997; "Concert-poem" for dutar and piano in the concert program of the International Music Festival "Ilhom XX" in Tashkent in 1999 and 5 musical scenes for piano and national instruments at the International Music Festival "Ilhom XX" in 2000 (based on the epic "Alpomish"), 2001 The concert program of the festival includes a concert for voice, chamber orchestra, choir, percussion and piano "Zikr al-Haq".

Sharipova's libretto, 1996) for the theater named after A. Hidoyatov. “Umar Khayyam” (O.Uzakov's libretto, 1987), “Sevgim samosi” (Ahmad al-Fargani) (J.Jabborov's libretto, 1998), “Khamsa” based on A.Navoi's work (for the State Academic Bolshoi Theater named after A.Navoi) S.Olimov's libretto, 2017), for the Tajik Academic Opera and Ballet Theater named after S.Aini “Shaikhurrais Abu Ali Ibn Sino” (K.Olimov's libretto, 2011), “Borbad” (N.Kasim's libretto, 2014), “Bukhara Sharif »(H.Davron libretto, 1997) teleopera-dostonini,« Nodira »(1992); Ulugbek Burji (1994); He created TV ballets "Maziydan nur" (1995) (librettos by Yu.Ismatova), music for the play "Yorqinoy" (Cholpon's work, 1993), radio performances "Kuntugmish", "Alpomish", "Last days", "Cholpon". The composer turned to the genre of cinematography and directed the feature films "Let there be a way" (directed by K. Kamolova, 2006), "Little people" (directed by H. Fayziev, 2007), "Mercy" (directed by B. Sodikov, 2009), " Music for Uzbek folk tales (2013).

Mustafa Bafoev has been working effectively in symphonic and vocal-symphonic genres. Mustafa Bafoev enriched the orchestra and choir with his works: Symphonic poem "The Legend of Shirak" (1974); Bayram Symphonic Overture (1976); “Concert Rhapsody” for trumpet and symphony orchestra (1978); Symphony for chamber orchestra "Avicenna" № 2 (1984); 1990 Symphony No. 3 "Page of the Poet's Life" dedicated to Hamza; Symphony No. 4 "Movarounnahr" dedicated to the 550th anniversary of Alisher Navoi in 1991; In 2013, the 6th Symphony (4 elements), the symphonic poem "Sogdian frescoes" (1992), 2 symphonic series "Seasons" (1991 and 1998), "7 anecdotes of Nasriddin Efendi" (2016). From vocal-symphonic works in 1983 for choir and symphony orchestra "Exciting poem - cantata" (words by T.Tola); An oratorio "Song about Tashkent" for master of artistic expression, soloist, choir and symphony orchestra in the words of the poet J.Kamol; 1984 poem "Tashkent - the Torch of the East" for solo, choir and symphony orchestra to the words of B. Boykobilov; 1987 to the words of H.Olimjon, master of artistic expression, soloist, women's choir, percussion, piano, stringed instruments oratorio "Tears of Roxana"; 1993 A. Aripov's masterpiece, soloist, choir, drum, percussion, string, piano, oratorio "Hajnoma" for national instruments: this work was videotaped. 1995 Oratorio-ballet "Zoroastrian Rite" for soloist, choir and symphony orchestra (libretto by Yu.Ismatova), master of artistic expression, "Zafarnoma" for soloists, choir and orchestra (Z.Obidov's poems. 1995) and "Seven Pirs" ( Shodmon Sulaymon sozi, 2018) oratorios, poem “Ona er nidosi” (T. Tola sozi, 1995), “Hazrat Bahouddinga madhiya” (1987). Poem "Voices of Maqom" to the words of Uvaysi from choral works (1982); poem-cantata “Alloma” for unaccompanied choir, works “Ajab-ajab”, “Marosim”, “Qizgina” (2005), “Navruz in Bukhara” (2018), “Song of words” for choir (1983); Series "Heart's cry" for solo and chorus to the words of Ya. Kurban (1985); The words of Navoi belong to the composition of the 5th choir-symphony "The Status of Alisher Navoi" (1991).

Composer and conductor Mustafo Bafoev enriched the orchestra's repertoire by composing music in various genres for the Uzbek Folk Orchestra named after Doni Zokirov. “Poem” for Kashgar rubab and orchestra (1980); The poem "Bayram Tantanasi" (1981); "Concerto" for orchestra (1983); "Concert Poem" for dutar and orchestra (1989); Poem for oud and orchestra dedicated to Jami and Navoi (1991); overtures “Bakhshi” (1992), “Shodiyona” (2012), suites “Zarafshan waves” (1994), I - (2013) and II- (2014) for orchestra; fantasies “Bukhara Bell” for piano and orchestra (1993), “Khorezmcha kaprichchio” (1993), soloist, choreographic poem “Bahrom and Dilorom” for soloist, choir and orchestra based on Navoi's epic “Sab’ai Sayyar” (1998); 8 musical scenes to the epic "Alpomish" (1999); concerto for tanbur and orchestra (1999); Concerts “Sughdcha” (1991), “Bukhara” (1999), “Samarkandcha” (Abadiyat, 2010) for chamber orchestra of Sogdian folk instruments, “Travelogue” (2010), “Thirsty methods” for orchestra and orchestra (2002), nay and for the orchestra he wrote the poem-fantasy “Serdtse moyo” (2006), the fantasy “Spring Awakening” (2005), the 5-part suite “Toyona” (2011), “Just a joke” (2013), the Afghan rubobi and the Concerto for orchestra.

Over the years, Mustafa Bafoev has also created instrumental and chamber vocal works. Among them: "Quartet" for string ensemble (1973), "Badakhshan" (2014); Sonata Poem for violin and piano (1974); “Three Dances” for string ensemble (1978); The novel "Gazal" for solo and chamber orchestra in the words of H. Dehlavi (1980); Uvaysi's novel "Love" for solo and chamber orchestra (1984); Ansari's 9 rubai-romances "Salvation" for ud, voice and chamber orchestra (1994); 5 musical scenes for piano based on the epic "Alpomish" (1999); “Sonata-maqom” for cello and piano, “Sonata” for bass and piano (2011), in 2002 in the concert program of the International Music Festival “Ilhom XX” the concert “Khorezmcha nagmayu usul” for violin and piano was performed.

In 2000, Mustafa Bafoev took part in the Great Silk Road International Music Festival in the United States. He created a "Bukhara Concerto" for cello and national instruments - thirst, flute, flute, trumpet, doira and drums, which was performed at the Boston Music Center. In 2000, he created an opera based on Navoi's epic "Lisonut tayr". Also, the works of M. Bafoev were performed at the International Symphonic and Chamber Music Festival in 1998, the symphonic poem "Sogdian frescoes", at the 2000 festival, the oratorio-ballet "Zoroastrian Ceremony". In 2001 he wrote a poem "Tahsinnoma" dedicated to Mutal Burhanov (for soloist, choir and symphony orchestra), in 2002 he wrote eight poems for cello and chamber ensemble "Dreams on the Silk Road" and a romance poem "My Art" in memory of M. Burhanov (poem by A. Aripov ) created.

The concert genre plays an important role in the work of composer Mustafa Bafoev. In addition to the above-mentioned concerts, Khoja Nasriddin and Carmensita in Bukhara for concert symphony orchestra (2002), Kashgar rubabi and Concerto for symphony orchestra (2002), concerto for tanbur-sato and symphony orchestra (2004), violin and “Concert №2” for symphony orchestra, “Turkish concert” for oboe and symphony orchestra (Mediterranean Waves, 2005), “Concert” for law, oud and percussion instruments (2005), for harp, sound and percussion instruments Borbad Melodies ”concert (in Khusrav Shirin Park, 2005),“ Sounds of Samo ”concert for percussion instruments (2006), Concerto for clarinet and symphony orchestra (2007), Concerto for horn and symphony orchestra (2008), 3 for violin and symphony orchestra - (2013) and 4- (2014) concerts, for flute and symphony orchestra (2016), for flute and symphony orchestra (2017) and others.

Conclusion. The composer has composed more than 200 songs and romances in total. A number of his songs have won prizes in the "Uzbekistan is my homeland" contest. The composer's works are regularly performed at state events and festivals throughout the country.

Mustafa Bafoev's works have been successfully performed in the United States, Germany, Italy, Japan, Turkey and the CIS.

Mustafa Bafoev's creative, conducting and public activities have been praised. He was awarded the honorary title of "Honored Artist of Uzbekistan" (1995), the State Prize named after A. Kadyri (1997), the Order "For Valorous Services" (2008), medals, badges of fraternal countries.
