Тема: Великобритания

Цели:

• обобщить изученный материал по теме “Великобритания”, дополнив его, дать возможность обучающимся продемонстрировать результаты овладения иностранным языком;

• Развивать умения и навыки практического владения английским языком по теме;

• Совершенствовать навыки аудирования, говорения и чтения;

• Повысить познавательный интерес к иностранному языку и культуре страны изучаемого языка.

Тип урока: обобщающий урок – проект

Оборудование урока:

Карта Британских островов, эмблемы и флаги Англии, Шотландии, Уэльса, Северной Ирландии, презентация «Соединенное Королевство», презентация «Великобритания» («Своя игра»), доклады учеников.

1. Начало урока (приветствие, организационные моменты, обмен вежливостями).

Hello, children! Sit down, please! Glad to see you. How are you? As for me, I’m fine. What about you? Are you fine? Are you OK? Not so good?

2. Постановка целей урока

Now look at the map and guess what country we are going to speak about at our lesson today.

You are quite right. We are going to speak about the UK. We’ll generalize the information we got at our previous lessons. And we’ll present our joint work on this subject. So we’ll follow the next plan:

6. The capital of Scotland is Edinburgh.

7. The capital of Wales is Cardiff.

8. The capital of Northern Ireland is Belfast.

9. The official language of the United Kingdom is English.

10. The national flag of the United Kingdom is called the Union Jack.

England

England is the largest part of Great Britain. The capital of England is London. The population of England is about 51 million people. The national symbols of England are the red rose and the flag called St George’s Cross. The National Day is the twenty-third of April. There are many universities in England. The most well-known university centres are Oxford and Cambridge. There are lots of other big cities in England for example Manchester, Leeds and Liverpool.

Scotland

Scotland is situated in the north of Great Britain. The capital of Scotland is Edinburgh. The population is over five million people. The other important cities are Glasgow and Aberdeen. The national flag of Scotland is called the St Andrew’s Cross. The national flower is the thistle. Scotland has its own language, customs, holidays and music. On their national day, Scottish men wear kilts. A famous Scottish instrument is bagpipes. Scotland is famous for its beautiful lakes. The most well-known is Loch Ness. They say that a monster lives there.

Wales.

Wales is situated in the west of Great Britain. It is the part of the UK. The capital of Wales is Сardiff. The population is over three million people. Wales has its own language, customs, holidays and music. The symbol of Wales is the Red Dragon. The national flower is the daffodil. They celebrate their national day on the first of March. The national game of Wales is Rugby. Wales is the country of mountains and waterfalls.

Northern Ireland

Northern Ireland is situated on the island of Ireland. It is the part of the UK. The capital of Northern Ireland is Belfast. The population is over one million people. The national flag of Northern Ireland is called the St Patrick’s Cross. The national flower is the clover. Northern Ireland is one of the most beautiful parts of the UK. It is the country of ancient castles and monuments. Northern Ireland is famous for its beautiful gardens. The country has the best gardening climate in the world.
