The teacher:
Dear friends, I m very glad to see you here, on the board of our ship «Hope». Today we make a voyage to a small English town Stratford – on –Avon. There are no mountains there, but there are beautiful woods, green fields and quiet river – the Avon. What is this small old town famous for? Stratford – on – Avon is the birth place of W. Shakespeare. As you know he is the greatest English poet and merchant. There were 8 children in their family. William was the third child. He went to the grammar school in Stratford but he was educated more by the people and nature about him than by teaching at school. When William was only 18, he married Anna Hathaway. Three years later the young Shakespeare, who already had 3 children, went to London because he wanted to be an actor. His dream became true. He worked as an actor. But his friends and he did not have their own theatre that is why they built a theatre and called it «Globe». There was a sign on its main door: «All the worlds is a stage»
The 1 pupil
My love is strengthened though more weak in seeming
I love not less, the show appear,
That love is merchandized who’s rich esteeming
The owners tongue doth public every where.
The 2 pupil
The 3 pupil
Two loves I have at comfort and despair
Which like two spirits do suggest me still?
The better angel is man right fair
The worse spirit a woman colors ill.
The teacher
«William Shakespeare became famous not as an actor, But as a writer of plays. He wrote 37 plays. Among them are «Hamlet», «King Lear», «Othello», «Anthony and Cleopatra», «Twelfth Night», « Romeo and Juliet».
The 4 pupil
My love is warmer than the warmest sunshine,
Softer than a sign.
My love is deeper than the deepest ocean,
Wider than the sky.
My love is brighter than the brightest star
That shines every night above.
And there is nothing in this world that can ever
Change my love.
3. The teacher
«Romeo and Juliet» - this wonderful love story is about two lovers, Romeo and Juliet. Unfortunately, they died, but they didn't stop loving each other. They stayed young forever.
Jul: - How you here have made the way? For what? The fencing is high and
unapproachable. To you here inevitable death when you would be found
by my relatives.
R: - I was transferred here with love, it is not stopped with walls. In need it
is solved on everything and consequently, - that to me your relatives.
Jul: - My person darkness rescues, and that I know from shame has burned
down. Certainly I so am strongly in love, that silly should you seem,
but I am strongly in love, that silly should you seem, but I am more fair
than many touchy persons, who play modest women.
R: - Sacred night! And suddenly all this dream? So the happiness so
fantastically and wonderfully it is all is unreasonable!
Jul: - Farewell! Farewell! And to be separated there is no urine! And to repeat
century «Good night».
R: - Farewell! Quiet dream to you come also sweet world will spread in your
breast!

The 1 pupil
«Good friend, for Jesus’ sake, forbear
To dig the dust enclosed here;
Blessed be he that spares there stones,
And cursed be he that moves my bones».
The teacher
It is believed that these have prevented the removal of his remains from native place to Westminster Abbey where the most famous men of Britain are buried. A memorial statue of him is up in Poets' Corner.
But Shakespeare's plays are still popular. Nowаdays many people like them. We laugh and cry with Shakespeare's characters.
Shakespeare's plays are famous in all countries. In England there is a special Shakespeare's Memorial Theatre in Stratford – on – Avon. A Shakespeare Festival is held here every year and people come from all over the world to honour the England greatest dramatist.
The 2 pupil
All the world's stage
And all the men and women merely players.
They have their exits and their entrances,
And one man in his time plays many parts.
His acts being seven ages.
At first the infant
Marling and puling in the nurses arms
And then the whining school – boy with his satchel
And shining morning face creeping like snail
Unwillingly to school.
The 3 pupil
Theteacher
It is interesting to note that all plots of Shakespeare's plays were not original. He took them from the works of other authors. At that time the audience was rather ignorant and the play wrights tried to attract it to the world literature through their plays. Shakespeare took his plots from history, old legends, novels and poems; he also used Plutarch «Historical Portraits». The plot of «Othello» and Twelfth Night» was taken from Italian novels and those of «Hamlet» and «King Lear»- from early English authors. But every borrowed plot began to live a new life in his plays.
Shakespeare wrote 2 long poems and 154 sonnets. They show his extraordinary powers of expression and his depth of emotional understanding.
III.
Who under a star happy is given birth –
Is proud of glory, a title and authority.
And for me love – a source of happiness.
Under the sun magnificently leaves has spread
The confidant of prince, the protégé of the grandee.
But the favorable look dies away the sun,
And the gold sunflower dies away too.
The military leader, the spoilt child of victories,
In fight the last suffers (bears) defeat.
And all his (its) destiny – disgrace and oblivion.
But there is no thereat no titles mine
Life: liked, I like, we like.
Shakespeare

The teacher – The lesson is over. Thank you for your work at the lesson. Your marks…., You may be free.
ROMEO AND JULIET QUIS
True or False?
Shakespeare's play is set in 13th – century Verona.
The Montague’s and the Couplets were bitter enemies.
Romeo and Juliet fell in love with each other at first sight.
Juliet was 15 years old.
Romeo and Juliet were secretly married by Friar Lawrence.
Romeo killed himself with a knife.
Juliet poisoned herself.
When the Montague’s and the Couplets saw the dead
bodies of their children, they promised to live in peace.
Nobody knows for sure if Romeo and Juliet, Shakespeare's romantic heroes, really existed but millions of people go to Verona, Italy, to see «the house of Juliet». This 13th – century house belonged to the Cappello family (sounds a bit like the Capulet's, does not it) who had a daughter called Juliet.
Juliet Cappello was born on the 16th September 1284. There were many legends and poems about her romance with a young man, and there legends probably inspired William Shakespeare to write his famous play in 1569.
Tourists like to be photographed standing on the balcony of the house of Juliet because they believe that it is the balcony where Juliet Capulet and Romeo Montague reveled their love to each other. And thousands of lovers from all over the world leave their love notes on the walls of the house. The towns cleaners have tried to remove them many times but they keep appearing again and – and in greater numbers.
There is also an unusual volunteer organization in Verona – the Juliet Club. Every year, they receive about 5,000 letters from heartbroken men and women all over the world. And each letter is answered!
This tradition dates from 1937, where the guardian of Juliet Cappello tomb found a letter at her grave. It had a very simple address – «to Juliet, Verona» - and was written by an Englishman who was desperately in love with a girl.
The guardian felt sorry for the Englishman and decided to write back pretending to be Juliet's secretary. This how the Juliet Club started.
Giulio Tamassia, head of the Juliet club, says that answering love letters isn't an easy job. Most of the letters are written in Italian and English, but some are written in Chinese, Japanese, Arabic and other difficult languages. Then the club has to find someone to translate them.
Some letters are from young people who just cannot find their Romeo or Juliet, others are from teenagers who find it difficult to talk to their parents. A lot of letters are from mixed – race couples whose parents oppose their love.
Here are just a few examples of such letters: «Some letters are very difficult to answer» says Giulio Tamassia. «If we cannot answer a particularly difficult letter, we ask our psychologist friend for help».
For Valentines Day, the Club a «Dear Juliet» prize for the best love letter received. The winners are nearly always the Italians and French – they write the most passionate letters.
And on the 16th of September, there is a festival in Verona to celebrate Juliet's birthday.
