Objectives: to learn new words and use them in oral and written speech; to express own points of view and work in groups; to develop skills of reading, listening, speaking and unprepared speech; to educate the feeling of love towards reading. Items needed: an interactive board, photos, posters, markers, cards. Type: compound Mothods: interactive Procedure of the lesson Organization moment. 1.Greeting. 2.Acquaiting with the aim of the lesson. II. Warm-up. Choose a card, complete it and ask your classmates. Have you ever _____(be) to the desert? Have you ever____ __(see) the ocean? Have you ever ______(find) money? Have you ever ______(go) to the rainforest? Have you ever _______(make) a video? Have you ever ______(write) a letter? Have you ever _______(take) photos? Have you ever _______(use) a computer? Have you ever ________ (eat ) a coconut? Read your question and sum up the answers. To introduce new words. -Listen and repeat. Explorer –a famous explorer Melt –the ice melted Frozen- the frozen ocean Sink (sank) –the ship sank Lifeboat-they sailed to the land in their lifeboats Survive-all man survived Storm -they survived storms Wave-wave of 16 metres Rescue- to rescue men -Let’s play a game “find missing word” - Make and ask questions using new words. IV. Subject definition. Prediction according to the pictures. -Look at the photo and describe it. What do you see? -Today we’ll listen and comprehend a true to life story. These pictures are from the text. -How do you think what the story about? Listening the text. -Now let’s listen and comprehend the text “The Amazing Escape” - Listen again and find out new words from the text. Read the sentences from the text and try to translate them. Group work. (tasks in the envelop) 1 group have to put the sentences in the correct order. Most of the crew stayed on Elephant Island. The Endurance left England. The ship couldn’t move in the ice and later sank. All the men from Elephant Island were rescued. Shackleton and five men went to South Georgia. (b, c, e, a, d) 2 group have to complete the sentences.
