Ask PP to read through the rules/promises again and decide if there are any that they would like to have in their school.

-Are there any that are not necessary in Uzbekistan?

-Which rules are the same as yours?

-Which are different?

-Are there any rules that you would like to add to your own school rules?

Hello! My name’s Steve. I’m fifteen and I’m in Year 11 at Estover Community School. Our school rules are very strict – but i think that’s good.

We need clear rules!

Hi! I’m a junior at the Pleasant Valley

high School. Tenth and eleventh grade

students are called juniors, twelfth are

seniors. look at our school rules. Do you

think they are strict?!

Suggestion: Grammar Exercise 2 gives additional practice in the use of “will” when promising.

In the UK on 31 December people make New Year’s Resolutions. They are promises to do things better in the new year. Write five promises you will make. Use the words in the cloud to help you.

e.g. I will make my bed and keep my room tidy.

Encourage PP to use the information in the text to make comparisons between

rules in Uzbekistan and the USA.

-Which rules are the same as yours?

-Which are different?

-Are there any that you would like to add to your school rules?
