                 Тема: «Kazakhstan is my Motherland.»

Цель урока: обобщение пройденного материала страноведческого характера

посредством заданий разного типа.  

Задачи:

Образовательная: повышать познавательный интерес учащихся к языку через использование игровых моментов;

Развивающая: развивать познавательные способности учащихся, словесно-логическое мышление и умение работать в группе;

Воспитательная: формировать и развивать навыки культуры общения, воспитать уважительное отношение к истории, традиции страны.

Здоровьесберегающая  задача урока:

Предупреждать переутомление учащихся путем смены деятельности

Форма урока: комбинированный

Методы урока:

▪ объяснительно-иллюстрированный;

▪ проблемно – поисковый;

▪ элементы игровых технологий

Тип урока: урок – викторина

Greetings

T1:  Good afternoon, students. We are happy to see you at our English lesson.

Our lesson is going to be unusual today. Our lesson will be devoted to our country.

 Let’s begin with the anthem of Kazakhstan.

We know that you like to play. And you will take part in our quiz game      

“Kazakhstan is my Motherland”.  There are two teams “Astana” and “Almaty”.

The motto of our lesson is “There is no place like home” and you’ll try

 to prove it.

  1. Warm up

T2: On our way to school we found a strange bottle. Look! There is something

 in  it. What is it? You should sing a song and then we’ll see.

(a song “A Message in the bottle”)

Oh, it’s a message in English with questions about our country.

Let’s start with quizzing game. (questions, pupils’ answers)

  1. What is the name of our country?
  2. What colour is the flag of Kazakhstan?
  3. What holiday do people celebrate on the 16th of December?
  4. What is the capital of Kazakhstan?
  5. Who is the first Kazakh cosmonaut?
  6. What was Almaty famous for?
  7. What is the population of Kazakhstan?
  8. What city in Kazakhstan has an underground?
  9. What is Chimbulak famous for?

(It’s a good place to ski and skate.)

  1.  Who is the president of Kazakhstan?

(Nursultan Nazarbaev is the first President.   He started to build New Kazakhstan. )

  1. What does the word “astana” mean?     (It means “capital”)
  2.  What do you know about yurts?     (It is a large round tent made of wood and felt.

 of   Kazakhstan. Here are the questions: (questions on the board)

  1. Is Almaty the capital of Kazakhstan?

(No, it isn’t. It was the capital, but Astana is the capital now.)

  1. Are there any volcanoes in Kazakhstan?

(No, there aren’t any volcanoes.)

  1. Are there any earthquakes?

(Yes, we sometimes have earthquakes in the south.)

  1. What are the Tobol and the Irtysh?

(They are rivers. The Irtysh is the second longest river in Asia. It’s 4,248 kilometres long.)

  1. Where are the highest mountains ?

(They are the Tian Shan mountains in the south-east of Kazakhstan near China.The highest mountain is Khan Tengri, which means ‘Ruler of the Sky’

Khan Tengri is 7,000 metres high.)

  1. What are the two biggest lakes in Kazakhstan?

(The Caspian Sea and Lake Balkhash.)

Цель урока: обобщение пройденного материала страноведческого характера

T1: Ok. Let’s go on. Match the sentences with pictures. Work in groups.

T2: Our next stage is Main cities.

Student2: In Kazakhstan 40% of population live in villages and country areas, about 60% live in cities. Almaty and Astana are among them.

T2: Do you know anything about other towns of Kazakhstan? What are they famous for?

Students’ answers:

Almaty was famous for its apples.

Astana is famous for its Baiterek.

Kokshetau is famous for its Borovoe.

Our next task is to complete the sentences with words

  1. Almaty has problems with traffic and pollution.

  2. A lot of people don’t want to live in the centre of Almaty because

it’s noisy and crowded.

  1. Some years ago Almaty was famous for its apples.

  2. There aren’t any historic buildings in Astana.

  3. Almaty is the centre for tourism.

  4. Astana is the capital of Kazakhstan.

  5. Our city has a population of eight thousand people.

  6. There is no underground in Astana, the main transport is buses.

T1: Kazakhstan is famous for its well-known people.

Do you know them? You were given a hometask to find some information

about them. Are you ready? Who wants to tell us about these people?

T2: The next stage is Holidays. All people like holidays. So do you.

It’s a good time not to go to school, not to work, to meet friends.

Both teams were very active. You showed good knowledge about Kazakhstan.

And all of you got excellent marks.

But we haven’t spoken about flora and fauna of Kazakhstan.

That’s why your hometask will be to make a project about plants and animals.
