The theme of the lesson: When is your birthday?

The aims of the lesson:

1. Develop pupil’s abilities in oral speech and reading;

2. Introduce the new words and expressions concerning the theme;

3. Practice the Cardinal and Ordinal numerals.

The kind of the lesson: practical lesson.

The type of the lesson: combined lesson.

Method: pair work, an individual work, question-answer.

Equipment:  cards, an interactive  board.

The procedure of the lesson:

I. Organization moment.

Teacher: Good afternoon, pupils!

Pupils: Good afternoon, teacher!

Teacher: Sit down, please. Who is on duty today?

Pupil 1: I’m on duty today.

Teacher: Who is absent?

Pupil 1:......

Teacher: Thanks, sit down. Now, pupils what is the day today?

Pupil 2: Today is Tuesday.

Teacher: Well what date is it today?

Pupil 3: Today is the 21st of April.

Teacher: What seasons is it now?

Pupil 4: It is spring.

II. Checking up the home task.

Now I’ll check up your home task. Your home task is Ex 11 p162.

Watch TV. Write down the temperature of the cities and towns of Kazakhstan.

III. Phonetic drill.

Teacher: All of you look at the  an interactive board and let’s read a poem about “Season”. We’ll read it in chorus, then one by one.

Spring is green,

Summer is bright,

Autumn is yellow,

 And winter is white.

IV. Introduction to the new theme.

The theme of the lesson: When is your birthday? Today we shall speak about seasons, months, ordinal and cardinal numerals and days of the week.

  1. How many seasons in a year?
  2. What is your favourite season?
  3. When is your birthday

Open your books at p 78 Ex3. Now, let’s read the ‘Dialogue’ between Asel and Carol.

Dialogue

Asel: When is your birthday?

Carol: It’s in winter.

Asel: In which month is it?

Carol: It’s on 31 of January. And when is yours?

Asel: Mine is on 9 of May.

Carol: What’s the date today?

Asel: It’s 21 of March.

Carol: Oh, it’s my father’s birthday on 23 of March.

Now pupils I,ll give you 3 minutes to make up dialogue.

For example: Aruzhan:When is your birthday?

Roman: It’s in summer.

Aruzhan: In which month is it?

Roman: It’s on 31 of January.
