If you look at the blackboard, you will see that the title of our lesson is “Life in London”. Today we are going to speak about your imagination of life in London, style of living, what you think about people who live in London. Also I would like you to make your own project, a collage, and write some words concerning your own ideas and thoughts about London’s life.
2. Речеваязарядка.
Before speaking about it I wonder what famous museum, art gallery, park and other places you would like to visit if you were in London.
What would you like to visit in London? What do you associate with London?
Name as many main sights as you can. (студенты называют достопримечательности Лондона и прикрепляют таблички с их названиями на доску).
What do you know about the British Museum? (The Tower of London, Big Ben, etc.) (высказывания студентов)
The picture of London’s sights has just been completed. To my mind, life in London is not only visiting museums and art galleries, walking up and down the streets, round Trafalgar Square; it is communication with the Londoners as well. The whole picture of London will be completed if we mention people living in London.

P1: Life in London
In my opinion I think life in London is like a fairy-tale. But every morning the Londoners wake up, have breakfast, parents go to work, children go to school, grandparents read morning newspapers and play with their cats.
I guess living in London includes bad weather. That’s why the Londoners like to drink hot chocolate. It warms their bodies and souls.
I imagine that the British are well-manned and helpful. I think that in London flower-beds are very beautiful, there are many best hotels, shops, restaurants, clubs and theatres in the streets.
I associate with the capital of Great Britain tourists from different countries. Every year thousands of tourists come here and enjoy London’s sights.
So, life in London is very interesting and mysterious, because London is a historical monument of English culture.

P2:
England and the English
When I think about London and about the English, I see England in the Middle Ages. At once I imagine a noble man who is sitting near the fire-placer. There is a pipe in his teeth and there is a cat on the knee. And a cup of tea is waiting for him on the table.
In my opinion many places in London are closely connected with the Royal Family. There are many royal palaces, royal parks, roads and streets where beautiful ceremonies are held. The most important building is Buckingham Palace, which is the official residence, where the Queen Elizabeth is. This building is used for royal processions which run from Trafalgar Square to Buckingham Palace through St. James’s Park.
It seems to me that the Englishmen like fine tea, animals and … kings. Many Englishmen say that they need King’s Family. Opinions are different.

P3: What I think about London…
London is the capital of Great Britain. It is a very old city. I know that it is two thousand years old. London is not only the capital of the country, it is also a huge port London has many sightseeing, for example, Trafalgar Square, the White Tower, Green Park, Westminster Abbey and many others.
When I talk about life in London, I think of Trafalgar Square because it is one of the symbols of London.. I associate with the capital of Great Britain Trafalgar Square because on the north side of Trafalgar Square there is the National Gallery, one of the world’s leading art galleries. It has extensive collections of various European schools of art. One can see a statue of Lord Nelson in the middle of this square. The British Museum is a very interesting place in London. The library of this museum has a lot of books. Also London has many big parks, such as Green Park, Hide Park and others. They are full of trees, flowers and grass. Another place of interest is Westminster Abbey. Many great Englishmen were buried in the Abbey: Newton, Darvin and others. Now Westminster Abbey is the most famous historical and religious building of England and one of the greatest masterpieces of architecture of the Middle Ages. Big Ben is the biggest clock bell in Britain. Many people think that London is gray, but in fact red is London’s favourite colour. For example, the double-decker buses are red, the letter boxes are red, and the mail vans are all bright, bright red.
I imagine that the British are the greatest tea drinkers, animal lovers and well-manned people. In my opinion I think life in London is very interesting. As for me, living in London consists of sightseeing tours and traditions. The English people are proud that they live in London. One can say that the City is the money of London, the West End is the goods of London, the East End is the hands of London.

P4:
Personally, I think life in London is amazing because there are many places of interest, museums and art galleries there. I am fond of customs and traditions. Generally speaking, the celebration of Halloween is of great interest for me. When I think about life in London, I associate with it pumpkins, fire places, double-deckers, the Royal Family and old castles, palaces, churches. If I could go to London, I would visit Westminster Abbey, Trafalgar Square, the British Museum and Hyde Park. Trafalgar Square is the center of London and as I feel it is the center of London’s life. Westminster Abbey was founded in the eleventh century. It was destroyed and rebuilt many times.
I’d like to visit the British Museum because it is the biggest museum in London. It contains a wonderful collection of ancient manuscripts, coins. Hyde Park is famous for its Speaker’s Corner, where people go when they want to tell other people about their political opinions.
I agree to the saying “When a wan tired of London, he is tired of life”.

9. Итогурока.
My dears, your have worked very hard today and done your best. The result of our lesson is wonderful. We have achieved the object of our lesson and I am glad that your conception of London’s life is so bright, interesting, amazing.
Thank you! Good-bye!
Note 1
TYPICALLY BRITISH
Most British people expect the person in front of them to hold the door open for them. People think you are rude, if you do not do this But British football supporters have a reputation for violence.
Most British people queue when they are waiting for a bus or waiting to be served in a shop. But during the rush hour, when a bus or train arrives, people often push forward to make sure they get on. This is called jumping the queue.
You can ask the police for help, if you are lost. Most British police are friendly, helpful and polite. But the police have been accused of treating people, especially black and Asian people, unfairly.
Note 2
LIFE IN LONDON
expression - выражение
except - за исключением
describe –описывать
glory – слава
pigeon –голубь
boat trip – путешествие
When we talk about London, we think of the House of Parliament and Big Ben. We think of Buckingham Palace, the home of the Royal family, the Horse Guards, the red London bus, Piccadilly, Nelson’s Column and Trafalgar Square.
Then we think of the wonderful shops and stores. Oxford Street, Harrods … London is a place where you can buy things you never see at home.
Then there’s City, the financial heart of Europe. The Stock Exchange and the Bank of England. There are banks everywhere. Small banks. American banks. Indian banks. One expression that describes the City perfectly is “Money makes the world go round”
London is great centre for the tourist. You can feed the pigeons in Trafalgar Square. Or go for a boat trip down the River Thames. Or you can sit near the statue of Eros in Piccadilly.
And then when you feel a little hungry you can find restaurants from every country in the world. Chinese restaurants, Greek restaurants, Indian, Italian and Spanish … everything except an English restaurant.
There is thing, however, that is very English. In the Albert Hall every year you will hear thousands of young people singing “Land of Hope and Glory, Mother of the Free”. For many English people Britain is still called Great Britain.
