Класс: 8

Тема: “Are you a good sport?”

Тема урока: «Sport in our life»

Цели урока:

Практическая: формирование умений диалогической речи по теме «Sport in our life»

Развивающая: развитие творческого воображения, самостоятельности

Образовательная цель: закрепление знаний о здоровом образе жизни

Воспитательная: воспитание ответственного отношения к своему здоровью

Оборудование: ноутбук, проектор, презентация учителя, карточки с заданиями

Ход урока:

I.Начало урока.

1)Организационный момент.

Учитель здоровается с учащимися. Класс отвечает.

T.: Good Morning, children!

Cl.: Good Morning!

T.: We continue to speak about our general theme devoted to sport and today we’ll have an unusual lesson, we are going to hold a discussion “Sport in our life”. First, we’ll do some tasks and then we’ll turn to be different specialists exchanging the information and ideas concerning sport.

2) Фонетическая зарядка.

T: Now I want you to look at the screen. You can see a proverb: An apple a day keeps a doctor away.

T.: Read it please, and tell me whether you understand this proverb and what do you do to be healthy?

(Примерные ответы учеников):

P1.:In the morning I do my morning exercises, have breakfast, clean my teeth.

P2: To be healthy I go to bed in time.

P3: To be healthy I go in for sports.

P4: I usually do exercises in the morning.

P5: I eat fruit and vegetables.

P6: I don’t eat fast food.

T.: Thank you for your answers, I suppose they are very useful for all of us.

II. Основная часть урока.

T.: Please look at the screen. Here you see some expressions, which are known to you. Read them please altogether: professional, amateur, go in for sport, to be injured, it’s interesting to take a chance, it’s in fashion, make friends, rest and relax, become strong/energetic/healthy, lose gain weight, look athletic/cool, have a good tome, earn money, enjoy playing/running, swimming, get rid of stress, win the prize, become famous. (Ученики читают слова хором).

T.: Now, using these words and expressions, try to answer why you would like to go in for sport.

(Примерные ответы)

P1: I would like to go in for sport to become famous.

P2: I would like to go in for sport to be energetic and healthy.

P3: I would like to go in for sport to look athletic.

T: All right, thank you for your answers. Now I believe you have many ideas concerning sport to be discussed and you are ready for holding our conference dedicated to sport in our life.

  1. Подготовка к игре

T.: Now I’ll divide you into 4 groups. I’ll give a card with task to every group, you should read it attentively and be responsible for acting your role.

(Учитель раздает задания каждой группе, дает время на подготовку)

Card №1. You are a group of sportsmen from America. You like sport, and consider it to be very useful for pupil’s health and body. Try to insist on the idea that children should go in for sport, because it is a good way to become strong, energetic and healthy using the following expressions: To begin with…I suppose that… I know from personal experience… I take a different view at… I have almost no doubt that… I agree/disagree with you…

Card №2. You are a group of parents from America. You agree that being a professional sportsman is difficult and dangerous, but you cannot ignore the desire of your child to win an Olympic medal. Besides, you think that sport is big business and sportsmen may earn much money. Try to persuade the audience, that there is not any damage in sport. Use the following expressions in your speech: I can disagree/agree with you… This does not seem to be so… I doubt it very much, because…I would like to add that…

Card №3. You are a group of doctors from Russia. You think that sport is good for people, because sport makes people healthy, keeps them fit, more organized and better disciplined. However, to be a professional sportsman is very difficult and dangerous, because you cannot save yourself of being injured. Try to persuade your colleagues that sport is not an easy deal and parents should be very attentive if their child is indulged in sport. Use the following expressions during speaking: Yes, you’re quite right, but I want to add that… I’d like to remind you that… It must be admitted that…I agree/disagree with you…

Card №4. You are a group of teachers from England. You say that you sometimes have problems with pupils who go in for sport professionally, because they often are absent and cannot understand material when they arrive. You think that sport distracts pupil’s attention from studying. Insist on the idea that professional sport for pupils is not a necessary thing, and for them it is better to study and just lead a healthy way of life. Use the following expressions during the discussion: Nobody doubts that… I agree/disagree with you… Opponents argue that… There is another side to this… I hold the view that… It strikes me that…

  1. Проведение игры

T.: Dear guests, today we shall speak about sport in our life, about hardworking training of pupil-sportsmen, about the advantages and risks of sport. Four delegations have come today to us. They are sportsmen and parents from America, doctors from Russia, and teachers from England. First, I would like to say that sport is very popular nowadays. Many people do morning exercises, jog in the morning and train in sport clubs. A lot of different competitions are held at school, a great number of pupils take part in them. Many people like sport, but some of them neither play sports games nor even watch them. They only like to speak about sport and say that all children and grown-ups must take care of their health. What do you think about it? Do you share the point of view that sport is very popular among pupils? Do you think children should go in for sport or not?

Sp.1: To begin with, I’d like to say that I am a professional sportsman. I have played football for seven years. I suppose that sport is very popular nowadays among pupils.

Sp.2: I agree with my friend and I know from my personal experience that sport is very useful for our health. As for me, it makes me strong and energetic.

Doc.1: Yes, you’re quite right, sport is very useful for every man. Everyone knows about his effect on our health, it makes people healthy, keeps them fit, more organized and better disciplined. But I would like to add that sometimes sport is dangerous and can damage you. What can you say about this fact?

Sp.3: I can agree with you, but, as you now, every sport is dangerous. Do you think that pupils should not go in for sport at all?

Doc.1: No, I do not say so, I just want to inform you about different sides of sport.

Teacher1: Excuse me, but I interfere the discussion. I would like to ask you a question. How do you combine your trainings with studying?

Sp.4: As for me, I’m studying at secondary school and do a lot of homework like normal pupils. Sometimes it is difficult for me to combine sport and school, because every week I have many trainings.

Teacher1: I hold the view that children studying at school should not do sport professionally.

Teacher2:I agree with my colleague. I have many problems with such pupils, because they are absent a lot of the time and can't understand material when they arrive at classes. Usually, they are bad pupils because they have no time to do homework, read books and so on. We do not like professional sportsmen-pupils. I’d like to ask parents. What do you think about this?

Parent1: This does not seem to be so. I do not think that sport is something bad for my child. He likes trainings, he doesn’t have any problems at school. I think much depends on a person.

Parent2: I am not against sport too.

Teacher3: It strikes me that these pupils like only sport!

Sp.4: I disagree with you, because I like studying and I want to have a good education in my future.

Teacher4: By the way, do you like more studying or training?

Sp.1: I think that it is difficult question, because we like both. For me, sport is a good method to get rid of stress.

Doc.3: Yes, I agree with you that sport is a good method to have a rest after great mental work. But I should remind you that being a professional sportsman is not easy deal. You may hurt your body, destroy your nervous system and relations with your family and friends. Many sportsmen need special diets and medical service. No smoking, no alcohol. By the way, do you lead such way of life?

Sp.1: Of course.

Sp.4: I believe that not only sportsmen should lead such way of life, but people who are not involved in sport professionally. Doing morning exercise, jogging, healthy food can help you.

Sp.3: I, for example, keep a special diet.

Parent3: I agree with the doctor that being a professional is very difficult and dangerous sometimes. Our children have many injuries, they cannot be simple children. But they dream of becoming winners and every person wants to win an Olympic medal.

Parent4: Besides that, professional sport is big business and sportsmen may earn much money.

T: Thank you dear guests, we see many opinions concerning sport. I suppose, today our discussion was very interesting and informative for all of us. Thank you for you coming.

3) Подведение итогов обсуждения

T: Thank you for your work! Now pupils, I want you to tell your opinion on the subject of discussion. How do you find our conference?

P1: We had an interesting discussion about sport life, sportsmen and their problems. Of course, every person should understand the risks of doing sport and be very careful.

P2: I agree with you. If you are going into professional sport, you have to be hardworking, and persistent. If you do not, enjoy jogging in the morning, playing games without everyday risks and injuries.

P3: Parents should be very attentive not to allow their children to become bad students at school because of trainings.

P4: I think that sport is very useful for us. Sport makes people healthy, keeps them fit, more organized and better disciplined.

P5: I believe that not everyone should be a professional sportsman, some of us can choose amateur sport and a healthy way of life and it would be also useful for our health.

III. Подведение итогов урока
