Let’s learn the poem “The ships”. Listen and repeat after me.

The ships

For many a year I’ve watched the ships a – sailing to and fro,

The mighty ships, the little ships, the speedy and the slow;

And many a time I’ve told myself that some day I would go

Around the world that is so full of wonders.

The things I’ve heard, the things I’ve read, the sings I’ve dreamed might be.

The boyish tales, the old men’s yarns – they will not pass from me:

I’ve heard, I’ve read, I’ve dreamed – but all the time I’ve longed to see – Around the world that is so full of wonders.

So, year by year I watch the ships a – sailing to and fro

The ships that come as strangers and the ships I’ve learned to know.

Folks smile to hear me say that some day I will go

Around the world that is so full of wonders.

To and fro?рі-бері

Yarn??гіме

To long – са?ыну

Folks – адамдар, халы?, туыс?ан

We have new theme “Museums and Galleries in London”. I hope you’ll find interesting and new information for yourselves.

Let’s read the text at page of number 97 one by one and translate it.

  1. The National Portrait Gallery. It was founded in 1856 to collect the portraits of famous British man and women. Today the collection is the most interesting one in the world, and presents a unique record of the men and the women who created (and are still creating) the history and culture of nation. The Gallery houses a primary collection of over nine thousand works. The gallery continues to develop.

  2. Guiness World of Records Exhibition. Experience the Guiness World of Records, Europe’s greatest display of all that is superlative around the globe! The exhibition divided into six “worlds”, brings the famous Guiness Book of Records vividly to life: the Human World, The Animal World, Planet Earth, Structures and Machines, Sports World and the World of Entertainment.

  3. The National Gallery. You will enjoy your visit to the National Gallery. You will see great masterpieces – from Leonardo da Vinci’s. “The Virgin of the Rocks” painted in the fifteenth century, to Van Gogh’s “Sunflowers” painted at the end of the nineteenth century and many others.

Ok, good. Now, I have some questions for you. Please answer those questions.

  1. What feelings and thoughts are connected with the ships?

  2. Do you think his dreams of travelling around the world will come true?

  3. Have you ever thought of going around the world that is so full of wonders?
