Have you read the book “Harriet the Spy” by L.Fitzhugh? Read the conversation from this book and say what Sport is going to be? 1. Why does Sport want to be an accountant? Make a choice. He likes maths because it’s not hard. He has to plan what to do with the money. His father is an accountant. Read the conversation again to find answers to these questions: How does Harriet ask about what Sport wants to be when he grows up? How does Sport answer the question about his future job? How does Harriet doubt whether Sport’s choice is right? How does Sport explain his choice? How does Harriet express her agreement with Sport’s arguments? Look through the chart (p.132). It shows that the conversation may go into different ways. Which way does Sport and Harriet’s conversation go? Read it out. 1. Here are different ways people may talk about future jobs ( ex. 2, p.132). Match the functions with the different ways they are expressed. 2. What is your future profession? Discuss it with your partner using one of the ways: 1.You doubt whether your partner’s choice is right. 2. You want to know why she/he has made such a choice. A Story “What I am going to be”. (I’ve changed the sentences a little bit) Nobody has read it. All sts have done it. This activity was a success. Only few sts have failed to make a choice. Sts have read the text attentively and found the answers. I’ve paid much attention to the task and sts have found it at once. Working in pairs (sts with different abilities) helped everybody to do the task. There were no questions on the assignment. |
