Методическая разработка урока по английскому языку

Тема урока: Великобритания – страна традиций.

Для всех специальностей.


преподаватель английского языка

Тема: Great Britain: a country of traditions.

Тип урока: комбинированный.

Цель урока: коммуникативно-речевое развитие студентов через обобщение знаний о традициях и праздниках Великобритании.

Задачи урока:

1. Образовательные:

- обобщить лексико-грамматический материал по теме “Great Britain”;

-совершенствовать речевые навыки и умение монологической речи.

2. Воспитательные:

- воспитывать уважение к культуре и традициям других народов;

-прививать любовь и интерес к иностранному языку;

- воспитывать умение работать в парах, группах, самостоятельно.

З. Развивающие:

-систематизировать страноведческий материал о Великобритании;

-расширить лингвистический кругозор студентов.

Оснащение урока: компьютер, интерактивная доска, презентации,слайды, раздаточный материал.

Ход урока.

1.Организационный момент

T. Good morning boys and girls! Glad to see you. Sit down please.(рапорт дежурного, ответы на вопросы) На доске высвечивается слайд №1 с темой урока.

2. Сообщение темы и цели урока. (вводное слово).

Т. The theme of out lesson “G.B.: a Country of Traditional”. Just like families have their own traditions, so do countries. Some British customs and traditions are known all over the world. A lot of them have very long histories. Some are funny and some are strange. But they are all interesting. Our talks will be connected with British festivals and traditions. We’ll also repeat Grammar constructions, do multipite choice exercises and listen to a dialogue. Let’s start!

3. Фонетическая разминка.

Т. I want you to start with English tongue-twisters. As you see they are also connected with the theme of our lesson. Your task is to pronounce theme as quickly as you can.

4. Речевая разминка.

T. Look at the blackboard, read, translate and explain the meaning of the worlds.

5. Основной ход урока.

T. And now let’s start with the most beautiful holiday loved by children and adults. Look at the blackboard and try to guess what holiday. I am speaking about.

(на доске слайд №4 с изображением Рождества).

Студенты смотрят и называют праздник.

S. It is Christmas.

T. You are right. And what do you know about Christmas?

S. Christmas is the most important holiday in Great Britain. It is celebrated on the 25 th of December. It is the birth of Jesus. People give present to each other and spend time with their families. They also send Christmas cards to their friends to say Marry Christmas. The cards usually have pictures with Christmas trees snowman, Santa Claus. Many people decorate their homes for Christmas and buy Christmas trees. They put lights and decorations on them. On Christmas Day people usually have Christmas dinner. This is turkey with potatoes and other vegetables and Christmas pudding. I must say that it is one of the most wonderful holiday in Great Britain.

T. Thank you. I see you know well how the English celebrate Christmas holidays and now let’s turn to the hismoty of this holidays. You’ll get text and your task will be to read them and to choose the right word from the ones given below the text.

Студенты выполняют задания на местах, слова даны после текста.

T. Now let’s check your answers. Go to the blackboard and explain your choice.

(на доске слайд № 5 с текстом) студенты вставляют слова и объясняют свой выбор.

T. Christmas, New Year and Halloween are fairy holidays, that’s why there are and there were a lot of beliefs connected with them.For example, why was it necessary to remove all Christmas decorations before the 12 th Night? We’ll be able to answer this question after reading this text But you are not only to read the text and find the answer, you are also to transform the worlds given in brackets.

P1. They say that if you want to have good health throughout the next year, you should eat an apple on Christmas Eve.

P2. You will have as many happy month in the coming year as the number of houses you eat mince (сладкий творог с изюмом) pies in during Christmas time.

P3. In Scotland a common custom is “First Footing”. The year will be lucky if a dark –haired man is the first to set foot in the house after midnight on New Year’s Day. He should bring a coin, a piece of bread or a lump of coal as a symbol of plenty for the coming year.

P4. According to the Chinese Calender every year is associated with a certain animal. For example this year is the year of the dragon. People buy toys, candles in the shape of this animal and give them to their friends and relatives as presents. They believe that these symbols will bring luck. Very often people, especially woman, wear clothes of special color during the New Year party to please a certain animal. Besides, special food is also cooked.

T. Thank you very much. You have prepared wonderful. I’ll put you excellent marks. By the way, do you know what was advised to wear and to cook this year? P5. If I am not mistaken it was advised to wear something red, black or blue and cook various meat dishes.

T. OK, thanks and now let’s check the text about the 12th Night and answer the question: why was it necessary to remove all Christmas decorations before the 12th Night?

(студенты читают по предложению, обращая внимание на вставленные слова, переводят и если надо, исправляют).

T. So, who can answer the question?

P6. It was necessary to remove all Christmas decorations before the 12th Night so as not to bring bad tuck upon the home. T. You are quite right. T. Well you see now how many tradition G.B. has. And of them is the celebration of R. Burns birthday, who is a great Scotish poet and who was born in January. Your home task was to make a short report about his biography and to learn his poem “My Heart is in the Highland”. So… tell us some words about R. Burns.

P7. R. Burns was born in Scotland in 1759 in the family of a gardener. He spent his childhood at his father’s farm. They worked hard at the farm, but soon the farm failed because they had not enough money to manage it. Robert wrote his first poem in 1779. His poems were full of music and love. He was a poet of his people. He was loved by everyone. His poems were read everywhere. But he died in poverty at the age of 37.

T. Now let’s listen to the poem “My Hearts in the Highlands”. Please come to the blackboard. (студенты рассказывают стихотворение по четверостишию на английском языке, а затем один студент – на русском).

P8. My heart’s in the Highland, my heart is not here.

My heart’s in the Highland a-chasing the deer.

A-chasing the wild deer, the following the roe.

My heart’s in the Highland, wherever I go.

P9. Farewell to the Highlands, farewell to the North.

The birth place of Valour, the country of Worth.

Wherever I wander, wherever I rove.

The Hills of the Highlands for ever I love.

P10. Farewell to the mountains high covered with snow.

Farewell to the Straths and green valleys below.

Farewell to the forests and wild-hanging woods.

Farewell to the torrents and loud-pouring floods.

P11. My heart’s in the Highland, my heart is not here.

My heart’s in the Highland a-chasing the deer.

A-chasing the wild deer, the following the roe.

My heart’s in the Highland, wherever I go.

P12. - На русском.

T. Thank you. You have worked hard. I put you excellent marks. And I want to speak about another holiday, that devoted to our mothers. It is “Mothering Sunday”. (на доске слайд №8 текст о Дне Матери).

Here we have the text about Mothering Sunday. It is devided into passages. Each passage has a title. Match each passage with it’s title and name the extra title. Студенты выходят к доске, читают текст ( по абзацам) переводят его и заполняют таблицу.(заготовки раздаются каждому на карточках).





T. Now let’s check our titles. Look a the blackboard.

(на доске слайд №9 - таблица с правильными ответами).

6. Подведение итогов урока.

T. Well. Our lessons came to the end. I must say you were perfect. We have done a lot: read and translate texts, did excises and Learned more about British festivals. I like your work at the lesson. Your marks are:. . .

7.Домашнее задание.

Be ready to speak about any British festival.
