Цели занятия:
Учебные:
обобщить и систематизировать знания по разделу «English-speaking countries»; развивать навыки монологической речи, чтения, письма и аудирования на основе изученного материала;
развивать навыки и умения применения знаний в новой ситуации;
Воспитательные:
воспитывать интерес и уважение к культурному наследию стран изучаемого языка;
повысить интерес к изучению английского языка;
формировать умение работать в команде (сообща);
Развивающие:
развивать творческую и познавательную активность студентов;
способствовать развитию интереса к культуре англо-говорящих стран.
Обеспечение занятия:
наглядные материалы: фото с изображением достопримечательностей Лондона, раздаточный материал, опорный план для краткой характеристики страны, мультимедийная презентация.
Good afternoon! Sit down, please. Let’s begin our lesson.

1. Why do we learn the English language? When and where can we use it?
2. English is an international language; it is used practically in all spheres of our life?
3. But why did English become an international language?
- Right, the matter is that millions of people all over the world speak English as their native language; there are many English-speaking countries all over the world.
4. What are they?
We have been studying the main English-speaking countries for several lessons. And today we will generalize all the information about them and even get acquainted with some other English-speaking countries.

- We have already mentioned the capital of the USA; now let’s remember the sights of Washington. Please, guess the sights I will speak about:
1) The residence of the American President (The White House).
2) The place, where American Congress meets, the highest building in Washington (the Capitol).
3) The largest library in Washington (the Library of Congress).
4) This monument looks like a very big pencil (the Washington monument).
5) This monument was built in memory of the third president of the USA – the author of the Declaration of Independence (the Jefferson Memorial).
6) This memorial is devoted to the memory of the president who gave freedom to Negro slaves in America (the Lincoln Memorial).
3.3. Применение знаний и умений в новой ситуации по микротемам “Canada”, “Australia”, “NewZealand”.

We have already said that millions of people all over the world speak English. What other English-speaking countries do you know?
- Now watch videos about three other English-speaking countries: Canada, Australia and New Zealand. While listening and watching, please, fill in the table with the information about general facts concerning each country.
3.3.2 Контроль усвоения, обсуждение допущенных ошибок и их коррекция.

- Students, please, let’s check general information about New Zealand using the table.

3.4. Выполнение задания по аудированию.
- Now you will listen to four speakers. Each of them will describe an English-speaking country. You are to guess the country of each speaker (организуется 2 прослушивания записи).
