Theme of the lesson: “The Portrait Project”

Lesson aims:  to read & understand a short text using present tenses

                        to understand & practice correct use of Present Simple & Present                                   Continuous

SB skills:        reading; grammar accuracy; talking about the present

WB practice: sentence completion using present simple/ present continuous;writing long/ short  forms.

Visual aids: interactive board, cards, internet materials, cartoon films

Procedure of the lesson:

 Warm-up. Asking questions of different students using the Present Simple & Pr.Contin.

                       What time do your lessons begin every day?

                       What time do lessons end?

                       Who teaches you Maths / English?

                        Do you learn Spanish in school?

                        What language are you studying in this lesson?

                        Which book are we using today?

                        How many students are sitting in the classroom now? 

 Game “In the ship”

 Activity 1.  1. Pre-reading questions: Where did you see these people before? (In the reading text: “The portrait Project” ) Who are they? (2 reporters & the professor, who is organizing the project)

                     2. Reading a paragraph each of the text.

                     3. After reading may ask about the verbs: What tense are the verbs in                               paragraph 1?  What tense are the verbs in paragraph 2?

                     4. Point out: paragraph 1 says what Will & Patsy do every day; 

                       paragraph 2 says what they are doing today.              

Activity 2.  Student 1            Student 2; etc. (ex. 2 p.12 SB)

Activity 3. Working with cards- Ask & answer using the Present Simple.

Activity 4. Working with the photo. (ex.4.p.12 SB)

Activity 5. Role game. “Reporter” (using ex.5 p.12)

Activity 6. Interview from Internet. Portrait Project by Sarah & Lina. Listening & retelling the meaning of their interview.

Relaxation. “A teamwork story”

Activity 7. WB: Grammar. These exercises are for independent homework. Checking that the class understands what they have to do in each exercise.

Giving hometask & marks.
