Lesson objectives

All learners will be able to:

Define some specific information of the talk about rooms with support;

describe a picture at sentence level (at least1 sentence) with support

Most learners will be able to:

Define 60% of specific information from the talk about rooms with some support

- describe the house and rooms using given picture (2-3 sentences) with some support

Some learners will be able to:

Define 85-90% or more specific information from the talk about the house and rooms

give description of the house and rooms without support (more than 3-4 sentences) without support

Assessment criteria

Listen and understand some specific information from talk.

Speak about house and describe objects in the rooms

-Watch the video & tell students that the new topic is: rooms of house and inside my house

-What is new topic about?

-About house…..


-After watching, ask students to recall what room words they know and furniture words

Divide the class into 4 groups.

1 bedroom

2 bathroom

3 living room

4 Kitchen



Task1. (5min)

Learners are going to listen to descriptions of rooms and what they are used for and define the room

The teacher reads to the learners:

  1. In this room you sleep. (a bedroom)

  2. In this room you have breakfast, lunch, dinner and supper. (a kitchen)

  3. In this room you have a shower or wash your hands and face. (a bathroom)

  4. Here you plant trees, flowers and vegetables here.(a garden)

  5. Here your parents keep their car. (garage)

  6. In this room you watch TV. (a living room)


- Look at the pictures,

- Listen to the description of a room,

- Guess the room which is described

Having finished the task the learners exchange their papers, check them.

(6 right answers –“excellent”, 5 right answers –“good”, 4 right answers –“not bad”).

Task 2 (10 min)

So learners should look at the pictures and describe with prepositions (under, on the, In the, next, between, opposite).


  1. Look the pictures

  2. Describe your picture using prepositions

(3-4 sentences –“excellent”, 2-3 sentences –“good”, no less 1 sentence –“not bad”).

Playing the game “Build a letter or number”

Teacher says any letter or number.



5 min

Reflexion “Ship”

Gives them ships to paint them

They paint the sails of ship

Green - if they like and manage to do all the task;

Yellow – if they had a little difficulties with tasks;

Red – if they had some difficulties and needed the teacher’s help.

Differentiation – how do you plan to give more support? How do you plan to challenge the more able learners?

Differentiation can be achieved through the ability of the students

Task 1
Less able student: try to find not less 4 words with the teacher’s support

More able students: try to find no more 5 words with limited support

Task 2

Less able student: try to describe a room in 1 sentence with support of translation

More able students: try to describe a room using preposition within 2-3 sentences with limited support

Pupils check each other’s mistakes

By means of oral formative assessment
