Lesson’s steps
1. Greeting. Good morning, children, glad to see you again!
2. Completing sentences with the correct word упр.1, стр. 102
- Focus Ss’ attention on the five incomplete sentences in the ‘Did you know?’ box.
- Allow Ss time to complete the sentences individually.
- Ss check their answers using the Word List.
3. Describing an imaginary scene упр.2, стр. 102
- Ask Ss to close their eyes and imagine they are on a spaceship.
- Play the recording and ask Ss to silently imagine the scene. Ask Ss what they are experiencing using the senses. What can you see? Can you seemillions of stars? How do you feel? Do you feelamazed? etc
4. a) Predicting the content of a text упр.3, стр. 102
- Draw Ss’ attention to the title of the text (Hello… Is Anyone There?) and write it on the
board.
- Select five Ss to read the first sentence of each of the paragraphs. Elicit from Ss what
they think the text is about.
- Ss read the text and check their predictions.
b) Reading to understand structure, sequence and content
- Ask Ss to read the gapped text, and then allow Ss time to complete the task.
- Ss compare answers with a partner.
5. Matching words/phrases to their meanings; defining vocabulary упр.4, стр. 102
- Draw Ss’ attention to the underlined words and phrases in the text and their meanings.
-Allow Ss time to match the meanings.
- Check Ss’ answers around the class.
6. Completing sentences using the correct word упр.5, стр. 103
- Explain the task.
- Allow Ss time to read through the items, filling the gaps with the nouns they think are correct.
- Check answers with the class and ask Ss to provide equivalents in their own language.
7. Matching words to form collocations упр.6, стр. 103
- Explain the task and complete item 1 as an example.
- Allow Ss time to complete the rest of the exercise individually.
- Check Ss’ answers and invite individual Ss to share their sentences with the class.
