Theme: Great Britain and Kazakhstan

Aims:

1. Educational: To consolidate and generalize knowledge of students on the Unit “Geography”; to enrich students knowledge in all spheres of country study; to widen their vocabulary through doing different tasks; to help to analyze the differences between two countries and their capitals.

2. Developmental: To develop student’s skills in oral speech; to and develop student’s writing, reading and speaking abilities through giving several tasks; to improve their mental and critical thinking.  

3. Cultural: To bring up patriots of their Motherland; to chance their respect for people of different nationalities; to improve their pride of their native, country; to bring up students to respect and love foreign language.

  • Students should read about the capitals in the texts they are given.
  • They should translate them.

task 3 “Imagine”

  • What is the seat of the British Government?

  • It is one of the most famous clocks in the world.

  • It was a fortress and a royal palace. Later it was a prison, and now it is a museum.

  • Building was rebuilt by Christopher Wren. It has a famous Whispering Gallery.

symbols, local sights of GB

  1. PHONETIC DRILL:

      • Let’s begin our lesson with a phonetic drill. Listen to a poem attentively, then you must repeat reading and translate it:

  1. CHECKING UP THE HOMETASK:

      • To revise all the words, word combinations and the structures in studying countries, planets.

      • In order to check the student’s knowledge in general position I’ll give them a chance to play the game “Bingo”. They should drop the cube out on the Bingo sheet and answer the questions below:

  • PLANETS:

    • What is the name of the planet we live on?

    • What will you be able to see if you look at the Earth from the space?

  • Oceans:

    • How many oceans are there on our planet?

    • What separate the continents from each other?

  • Continents:

    • How many continents on the Earth?

    • What continent China in?

  • Capitals:

    • How many and how does it called the main cities in each country?

    • Name the capitals of the UK of GB.

  • Countries:

    • How many countries can you name from the South America?

    • How many countries in the world?

  • Lakes:

    • The largest lake in the Eurasian Continent.

    • The main lake in Congo Republic, Africa.

  • Rivers:

    • How many large rivers do you know in Central Asia?

    • The largest river in the world.

  • Seas:

    • Can you name the European Seas?

    • Name the colored seas in the world.

  • Countries:

    • What is the largest country in the world?

    • Name the smallest country in the world.
