Тема урока: Travelling to London

Тип урока: урок обобщения и систематизации знаний с использованием ИКТ.

Цель урока: закрепление знаний учащихся по теме «Лондон».

Задачи урока:

  1. образовательный аспект: активизировать употребление лексики по теме занятия, систематизировать страноведческие знания, совершенствовать навыки аудирования, устной и письменной речи;
  2. развивающий аспект: развить речевые умения учащихся, внимание, память, умение работать в парах;
  3. воспитательный аспект: прививать интерес к культуре страны изучаемого языка, воспитывать взаимоуважение и чувство ответственности.

Средства обучения:

  1. наглядные: презентация (Приложение 1);
  2. раздаточный материал: карточки  (Приложение 2);
  3. видеоролики “London”, “the Changing of the Guards” (Приложение 3);
  4. технические: проектор, ноутбук, экран для проецирования

Ход урока

 1 Оргмомент Let’s read the motto of our lesson "It’s better to see something once then to hear about it a hundred times”. Please, give a Russian proverb to these words. ("Лучше один раз увидеть, чем сто раз услышать”). That’s why today at the lesson we’ll try to do so.

Today we are going to learn more about London. As you know London is one of the most beautiful cities in the world. It has a lot of interesting historical and modern places to visit.

Every year a lot of tourists visit London. Would you like to visit London? I would like to visit London too. Let’s do it together today. But first let’s see what you know about London.

Well. Let’s begin our trip. But first remember some English sounds:

T: Let’s start our lesson with English sounds. Look at the display. Read the sounds and the words with them after me.

T: And now let’s play a game “Agree or Disagree”. You already know a lot about London. Listen to my sentences and be attentive. Repeat the statement if you agree with me and correct it if you disagree.

T: Trafalgar Square is in London.

P1: I agree with you, Trafalgar Square is in London.

T: Moscow is the capital of the UK.

P2: I disagree with you, London is the capital of the UK.

T: You don’t want to visit Great Britain.

P3: You are mistaken, we want to visit Great Britain very much.

T: London is the biggest city of the UK.

P4: It’s true. London is the biggest city of the UK.

T: London is on of the most interesting and famous cities in Europe.

P5: I agree with you. London is on of the most interesting and famous cities in Europe.

T: There are no art galleries in the capital of the UK.

P6: I disagree with you. There are some art galleries in London.

T: London is not a beautiful city.

P7: You are mistaken, London is a very beautiful city.

T: I see that you really know a lot about the capital of Great Britain. And I hope you’ll get more information about it after our trip.

T. London is the biggest city in Britain. About 14 million people live and work there. It is a centre of business and tourism. There are many theatres, cinemas and museums in London. Most of the streets are not very wide. Oxford street is London’s shopping centre. Also there are many beautiful parks in London.

  • Are the streets wide in London?
  • Is London an old city?
  • Are there any museums in London?
  • What river does London stand on?

P2 There are many places of interest in the city:

Trafalgar Square, Buckingham Palace, the Houses of Parliament, Westminster Abbey? Big Ben, St. Paul’s Cathedral

We start from Trafalgar Square. On the column in the centre there is a statue of Admiral Nelson.

T.  What do you know about Trafalgar Square?

P.3 Trafalgar Square is the centre of London. It is the most beautiful place of London. There is the monument of Admiral Nelson. Four bronze lions look at the square from the monument. There are two beautiful fountains in the square.

P1 Now we are at Buckingham Palace

T.  What do you know about Buckingham Palace?

 P.4  Buckingham Palace is the place where British kings and queens live when they are in London. Important visitors often go to the Palace and meet Queen Elizabeth and the royal family. A lot of tourists come to Buckingham Palace every day to see the Changing of the Guards.

P.1 Not far from the Houses of Parliament there is a big clock. People call it

P.2 St. Paul’s Cathedral is the second famous church in London. The architect is Sir Christopher Wren.

T: OK you know a lot of places in London. But we can lose our way. It will be very important for you to ask some help. If you know the way you‘ll help the person to find the way. Take these cards and translate them into English. And then show you own dialogue with your partner. You have five minutes to do it.

Тема урока: Travelling to London

Тип урока: урок обобщения и систематизации знаний с использованием ИКТ.

Цель урока: закрепление знаний учащихся по теме «Лондон».
