Summer Stories

1. Организационный момент.

- Good morning, boys and girls! I’m glad to see you again. Sit down, please!

How are you? --- As for me, I’m happy today because there are so many guests in our classroom. And tell me, please, what day is it today? And what season is it now?

Do you like autumn? And what is your favourite season? --- Well, I see that most of you like summer. So guess the topic of our lesson! (картинки на слайде!!!)

Yes, exactly right! We are going to speak about summer! The name of our topic is Summer stories.

2) Определение проблемы

As for me, I can tell you about my summer. It was great! Our friends Jim and Jill can tell you their last summer story too - open your Student’s Books on page 50 and look at the pictures on page 50. And you? Can you tell me and each other your summer stories or the summer story of our friends – Jim and Jill? Can you make up sentences in the past?

Why not? ( --------) OK, this is a problem for you, because you don’t know how to speak in the past.

3) Целеполагание.

So, tell me, what is the goal of our lesson? The goal of our lesson is to make up sentences in the past.

And what are our steps or objectives? You can use these cards and choose them.

The objectives are: 1) to learn the rule 2) to read the text 3) to practice new grammar

And tell me, please, is it important to know how to speak in the past? Why? (You may speak Russian)

OK, let’s start working this way.

4) Фонетическая зарядка

But at first let’s do phonetic exercises. You have special cards on your desks. Use them and follow me. There are some words from our story about children. Repeat the words after me.

5) Открытие нового знания

And now look attentively at your words. There are some words in bold. Do you recognize them? Are they correct? Tell me what is wrong with them?

Какая это часть речи? Что с ними не так?

Они изменились именно потому, что указаны в прошедшем времени. Чтобы рассказать о том, что было, мы должны изменить глагол – поставить его в прошедшее время (Past Simple).

Look at the rule on page 51 and read it aloud.

Значит какой мы можем сделать вывод? (что все глаголы в английском языке делятся на правильные и неправильные (послушные и непослушные)

Look at the rules on page 52 and 53. – (обсуждение правил на русском языке)

Ok, well done. And now let’s go back to our objectives - did we learn the rule?

6) Первичное закрепление нового знания

Look at the text and find some regular verbs, name them. And now find some irregular verbs.

And now I want you to work in pairs. You have to read the text for yourself and do some exercises. Every pair will get its own task.

(У каждого ученика трафареты птичек, соответствующие их способностям и возможностям red birds – слабые, yellow birds – средние, green birds - сильные)

Those pupils who have red birds today - you have to find the following word combinations from the story. (p.53, ex.9) – найти эквиваленты

Those pupils who have yellow birds - I’d like you to choose the right order of the pictures and find one sentence to each picture from the text. Mind the verbs, please!

And students who have green birds – I want you to answer the questions.

I give you ---- minutes to do it.

Are you ready? Check yourself, please. And look at the criterias – you’ve got a special table on your desks –

if you have 4 right answers - you may colour 5 apples to feed your birds. It means that you have got a 5,

3 right answers – colour 4 apples

and 2 right answers – only 3 apples.

So, how many apples do you have? And you? Well done!

And now let’s go back to our objectives again – did we read the summer story?

7) Физкультминутка.

Stand up, please. Let’s imagine that we are in the theatre now and you are actors. You have got a director and he will tell you and show you what to do. Kate is your director. Look at her and follow her instructions.

And now let’s look at our third step – what should we do to make up sentences in the past?

Let’s do it this way: turn to your classmates - let’s work in groups!

There are some words about summer on your green cards. They are about you and your friends. Look at the photos on the slide. – (на слайде – коллаж с фотографиями детей из класса – их летний отдых). I’d like you to make up sentences in Past Simple.

The first group - those pupils who have red and yellow birds today

– you may use your Student’s books to do this task successfully;

The second group -those pupils who have green birds – you may not use your Student’s books. I give you ---- minutes to do it. Mind the verbs, please!

Are you ready? Exchange your cards and check them, please. Use the sentences on the slide. And now attention, please – we have got special criteria for every group:

Yellow and red birds –

3 sentences no mistakes – 5 apples

2 sentences no mistakes – 4 apples

1sentence no mistakes – 3 apples

And for green birds -

4 sentences no mistakes – 5 apples

3 sentences no mistakes – 4 apples

2 sentences no mistakes – 3 apples

How many apples or what mark do you have? And you?... Any mistakes?

Well done. Look at our objectives. Did we practice new grammar? And have a look at our goal - did we make up sentences in the past?

9) Домашнее задание.

Your homework for tomorrow is to learn the rule about Past Simple by heart;

Yellow and red birds - Ex.12 (p.53)

And for green birds – tell a short story about Jim and Jill (5-6 sentences) in Past Simple (SB, p.50-51).
