Objectives: - to teach pupils the usage of verb patterns (gerund and infinitive);
- to talk about jobs and work;
- to develop pupil’s skills in reading, speaking, listening and writing.
Visual aids: Active board, pictures.

II. Warm up
Lead-in to job. Alphabet game. Well, students I’ll give you a letter of the alphabet and then in pairs think of as many jobs as you can starting with that letter.

Verb patterns
- Gerund
1. After preposition
Eg. He is good at playing computer games.
2. The subject of the sentence
Eg. Smoking is bad for your health.
3. After some verbs (verbs, preference: like, love, hope, don’t mind, hate)
Eg. I don’t mind running in the rain.
- Infinitives + to
1. After adjectives
Eg. My house is easy to find.
2. To express purpose
Eg. She is saving money to travel.
3. After certain verb (want, need, learn)
Eg. I want to ride my bike.
- Infinitives without to
1. Any modal verbs (would, could, might, must, will)
Eg. I might go to Spain.
2. Make / let
Eg. I make him take out the rubbish.
