I see all of you like to watch TV. But when do your homework? (hometasks?) When do you meet with your friends? Do you have enough time?
Is it possible to combine watching TV and going to the cinema with an active way of life, with good study and meeting with friends? (Can cinema and TV bring any help?) I have a letter from my pen-friend Charles. Here it is. He also likes to watch TV. Listen to it and say if Charles has enough time for everything. Does he spend his time interesting?

I am a busy person. I adore watching TV. It’s exciting and (like very, very much) (волнующий, захватывающий) thrilling. There are so many feature films. Funny and (захватывающий) (черта, особенность) (смешной, забавный) amusing comedies, wide-screen, cool thrillers, true-to-life (занимательный) (when you laugh) (захватывающий фильм) (правдивый) documentary films. I spend hours sitting and watching TV. My friends laugh at me. They call me a couch-potato. They think I only kill my (диванный картофель) time. But I don’t care about them. I believe watching is very (мне все равно) useful and educative. It helps me know about the world. (полезный) (воспитательный, просветительный) Besides, there are so many advertisements on TV I adore (рекламных объявлений) (на ТВ) advertisements. They help me choose things/products of high quality. (very good things) Sometimes, I find time to watch musical programmes and (from music) cartoons. I never watch serials/soap operas. I don’t want to (Tom & Jerry) (Полтергейст/Санта-Барбара) waste my time on them. But my mother thinks soap operas/ (spend needlessly - тратить попусту) serials are amusing and thrilling. Serials and soap operas make her be in good mood. But I think they only take time (быть в хорошем настроении) and don’t help in life. My mother says many of them are low quality and very dull. (низкое качество) (скучный) My mother, my father and I often go to the cinema. We like to see colourful actions, dramas and detectives. And what would you write to your pen-friend about your attitude to cinema and TV? What would you like him to know about your attitude?
