The USA is situated in the central part of the North American continent. Its western coast is washed by the Pacific Ocean and its eastern coast- by the Atlantic Ocean. The area of the USA is over 9 million square kilometers. The continental part of the USA consist two highland regions the Appalachian Mountains in the east, and the Cordillera in the west, and two lowlands regions: the central lowland the prairie and the eastern lowlands the Mississippi Valley. The main rivers of the USA are the Mississippi, the Colorado, the Columbia, the Saint Lawrence and Hudson
The American flag is often called the “Stars and Stripes” It has 13 stripes and 50 stars. There are 50 states.Alaska and Hawaii are notconnected to the other states
The USA is highly developed industrial country, and its agriculture is highly mechanized. The USA has a highly developed railway system.
The population of the USA is more than 322 million people. The people of America are a
mixture ofmany differentnationalities –a “melting pot”.The capital of the USA is Washington, in the District of Columbia. The US Congress has its seat in the Capitol, and the White House is the residence of the president. The USA is a federal republic consisting of fifty states, each of which has its own government. The president constitution was proclaimed in 1787 in Philadelphia. The head of the USA is president. The president of the USA is Barak Obama.
