Great Britain produced many of the most influential scientists, mathematicians and inventors in modern history. With influential people come influential ideas, theories and inventions, some of which have the potential to change the world forever.

Welcome to the London Science Museum! The Science Museum now holds a collection of over 300,000 items. It also contains hundreds of interactive exhibits & a dedicated library, which includes original scientific works and archives. Around 450,000 young people visit the Science Museum on educational trips.
Турист №1 How much is the ticket to the museum?
Турист №2 Are there any discounts for students?
В-Э The entrance has been free since 1 December 2001.
Все туристы Wow!!!!

В-ЭWe are in the East Hall now. It is the first area that most visitors see as they enter the building. This is the first steam locomotive, invented by Richard Trevithick, a British inventor and mining engineer. It was built in 1804.

Турист №4 As for me, I have always been sure that English is the greatest invention of the British. It is the official language of more countries worldwide than any other, the most common second language globally and the most far reaching language in the world, with native speakers as far spread as Australia, New Zealand, the USA, Canada and, of course, Great Britain, where the language was born.
Картинканаэкране: English-speaking countries
Турист №5 I totally agree with you. Every great speech in the long history of the English speaking world, every theory, paper, proposal and design too - share one common thing:
(Всетуристы) the English language.
Турист №6 That is whythe English language must be Britain’s most influential invention. That’s why I study English! It helps me both travel and communicate with people abroad.
Турист №7 English improves my memory through learning rhymes, poems, sonnets and limericks. My favourite one is From a Railway Carriage by RobertLouisStevenson.Картинканаэкране: From a Railway Carriage, портрет Robert Louis Stevenson. Стихотворение – бегущейстроко. Турист №3Oh! My mom is calling. Hi Mom! I’m fine, thanks. We are in the London Science Museum now. The excursion has just begun. Lots of hugs to you, mum! (обращается к группе) Oh, sorry!

Do you know that the telephone was invented by British inventor Alexander Graham Bell, who maintained a keen interest in science and biology. Moving to London to live with his grandfather, Bell developed a love for learning and spent hours each day in study.
Турист №4Both my friend ______ & I made a project for the school conference last year.Alexander Graham Bell was born in Edinburgh, Scotland, in 1847. We were surprised to learn that he had never planned to be an inventor. He wanted to be a musician or a teacher of deaf people like his father.
Турист №5 In 1866 the 19 year-old Bell thought about telegraph. He tried to find a way of sending a musical sound through the wires. Working as a professor at Boston University he was interested in the mechanical production of a sound.
Ведущая-экскурсовод
You are right, boys! It was possible for Bell to convert the sound wave vibrations into a fluctuating electric current and to carry sound across wires at the speed of light. Alexander Graham Bell invented the first telephone in 1876 & was granted the patent for the world’s first telephone.
Турист №6 Nevertheless, I would say that television should be considered to be the greatest invention that has changed the world. I love watching TV!
Все туристы (показывая пальцем на него) You are a couch potato! ( танцуют и поют +видео) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ihi83-51X_w

She says…
It’s a sunny day they don’t even know.
Staring at the tube with the window.
Blisters on their fingers from remote controls,
Mama says: You turn into a potato!

Get some exercise like you know you should.
Keep the motor running underneath the hood!
Everybody knows ‘cause it’s understood

Television now plays an important role in our life. It is difficult to say if it is good or bad for us. It is clear, that television has advantages and disadvantages. But are there more advantages than disadvantages? In the first place, television is an entertainment.
( на экране информация об изобретении в слайдах + рисунок:)
10 The worlds first publicly demonstrated television was invented by British inventor John Logie Baird. He is also credited with the invention of the first fully electric color television tube. The first public demonstration of Logie Bairds television was performed before members of the Royal Institution on 26th January 1926. He also later demonstrated the first color television on 3rd July 1928.
Турист № 7 In my opinion, television remains one of the most influential inventions in history, allowing people all over the world to communicate via moving images.
Турист № 8And what about a computer?
Ведущая-экскурсовод
Look here! The first programmable computer was invented by British mathematician and scientist Charles Babbage in the 1820s. Babbage began work on a mechanical computer he called the Difference Engine in 1822, working for more than ten years with government funding.
Турист № 9Our teacher of Physics states that the project was eventually abandoned after losing funding after the British government lost faith in the project after prolonged delays. The machine was built for the first time from Babbages original designs over 150 years later!
Ведущая-экскурсовод
That’s right. If someone asked you “who invented the computer,” how would you respond? Bill Gates? Steve Jobs? Al Gore? Enter the Science Museum of London and all the questions will be answered through the exhibition which reflects the issue.

Турист № 2This list can be called as British inventions that changed the world. Note that although a couple of these inventions have been disputed, they are all legally recognized as British inventions.

Unfortunately, it’s time to finish our excursion. Because this is such a large museum I have tried to give a general overview of some of the galleries so that you get a better idea of what you can expect to see during your visit.
Турист № 3There are videos and pictures to accompany most gallery pages which I hope will give you a little peek into each exhibition space.
Турист № 4This is a very exciting museum for young and old and will give you a full day out in London.
Турист № 5There are cafes and picnic areas inside the museum so there is plenty of opportunities to take a breather (believe me you will need it).
Турист № 6 The Science museum collection is spread over 5 floors! On the first floor you can discover all sorts of materials, from ceramic tiles to fiber, and learn about their properties and how they are used. Another gallery on this floor explores the world of telecommunications - showing the progress made over the last one hundred years, from letters over telegraphs to mobile phones.
Турист № 7On the second floor you can see old synthesizers, the oldest working electronic computer and the Difference Engine no. 2, a huge mechanical computing device conceived in the nineteenth century.
Турист № 8A large part of the third floor is occupied by the museum's collection of airplanes, which includes an exact replica of the Wright brothers' first airplane.
Турист № 9On the fourth and fifth floors you find the collection of Henry Wellcome, which shows the history of medicine from the Neolithic Period to today. Here you can see how they performed surgery thousands of years ago,
