Introduction

The famous proverb says ‘’ A good dress is a card of invitation”. Indeed, it is very important in the first place to know how to present oneself, what kind of clothes fits the event you visit, so you do not lose your face, and create the right impression of yourself, and then your mind and education should help you to complete your image.

Hypothesis: fashion is changing all the time.

Actuality: fashion is a temporary dominance of a certain style in any areas of life or culture.

The aims of the work:

- To find interesting information about fashion;

The tasks of the work:

- To study the information

- To study students attitude about fashion

- To analyze the results

The subject of the work: information about fashion and Mary Quant, a British designer

The object of the work: the students of the eighth form

1.1. Chapter 1

Clothes are the very attribute, which we cannot live without. It is a collection of products made from natural (cotton, linen, wool, etc.), or synthetic fabrics. Its main purpose is to protect people from the adverse effects of the environment (weather, insects, chemicals, weapons, and other factors that pose a threat to human health). In addition, clothing has some aesthetic functions: various items of clothing has endowed with cultural and social value.

We can say that fashion is a kind of a dictator: for a certain period of time it determines a popular style in the community, schools of thought and ideas, a way of behavior and ways of life, books, movies, restaurants, architecture, leisure facilities, and etc.

1.2. Chapter 2

There are several of styles of clothes nowadays, so people can choose what to wear on difficult occasions.

In the period from 1960 to 1967 the miniskirt appeared.

Mary Quant is a British designer who is famous for designing the miniskirt.

Mary Quant was born in Kent, in 1934. When she was young, there was no teenage fashion. Young women dressed like adults or little girls.

At 13, she designed her own uniform. She wore very short dresses.

After school, Mary went to Goldsmith’s College in London where she met her future husband Alexander Greene. Like Mary, he wore unusual clothes such as purple velvet trousers and pyjama jackets.

When Mary left college, she started working for a hat-maker in London. In October 1955, together with her husband she opened her own clothes shop Bazaar on the Kings Road in London. It was very important for Mary. Soon she decided to make her own clothes.

The 1960s called the “Swinging Sixties”. During these years, Mary’s designs became very popular. Everyone loved her mine-skirts. Thanks to Mary, London became the fashion capital of the world. In 1961, Quant opened a second Bazaar in Knightsbridge and in 1963; she started selling her clothes to the USA where they were also very popular.

In 1966, Mary got the Order of the British Empire for her work in the fashion industry. She went to Buckingham Palace in a mini-skirt to get the medal.

At this period, Mary started her own cosmetic company. She designed beautiful packaging for it, with the Quant daisy symbol. In 2000, Quant sold her business to a Japanese company. Now, there are over 200 Mary Quant Colour Shops in Japan, where Quant fashions are still popular.

We made a survey among 11 students of the eighth form of our school. They answered the question. Do you think that fashion is a thing that we have to keep up?

Four students agree that fashion is a thing that we have to keep up

Four students think that look trendy is cool.

Three students think that trendy clothes are a waste of money.

Therefore, we found out that we are all different, we have different tastes but if you have good taste you can buy a big range of styles and always look fashionable.

Conclusion.

Our hypothesis was that fashion is changing all the time.

1 Clothes can tell us about people immediately.

2 Fashion is a kind of a dictator.

We have come to conclusion that if a person does not have good taste he is not able to put things together.

Our aim was to know opinion among the students about fashion.

The practical using of our work

Аннотация

Исследовательская работа направлена на поиск информации связанной с модой и её влияние на общество. Исследовательская часть включает анкетирование учащихся 8 класса и определение их отношение к моде, модной одежде.

Тезисы

Исследовательская работа состоит из введения, двух глав, заключения и использованной литературы.

Введение содержит гипотезу, актуальность темы, цели, задачи работы, предмет и объект

Основная часть содержит две главы:

1. Fashion is a kind of a dictator. В этой части описано о том, какое место одежда занимает в жизни человека.

2. Mary Quant. В этой части описана информация о жизни дизайнера мини-юбки Мери Квант, её вкладе в мировую моду. Заключение содержит выводы и практическое применение работы

Проблема исследования – рассказать о том как мода влияет мода на общество, образ жизни человека.

Актуальность работы – существует разные стили в моде

Методы исследования:

1. поиск информации в книгах, журналах
