Nikolai Nikolaevich Soloviev (10.12.1957)

He was born on December 10, 1957 in the International settlement. Не is Russian.

Nicholai graduated the secondary school № 19 in his native settlement. He was fond of driving, and that's why he went to the club VSAAAN (Voluntary Society for Assistance to Army, Air Force and Navy). He got a profession of driver there. And then he went to the army.

Nicholai was in the limited contingent of troops in Afghanistan in 1983. He served in the motorized troops. About himself, he said so: "I have not done anything heroic, I was just doing my international duty." One day his unit had to be knocked out of the village dushmans. Village was located in the mountains. The soldiers climbed into the mountains. They walked cautiously, because dushmans often attacked there. They have taken away the narrow passage between the rocks. And then on the top they listened the scribbling machine gun. The soldiers took cover. Nicholas was protected by the rocks and was able to see the place where the machine gun scribbling. He threw a grenade and saved his comrades.

He was awarded the highest award for participation in the fighting on the land of Afghanistan - awarded the Order of the Red Star. There have been many cases of the same one and a half years of service in Afghanistan. It was hard, but comrades and friends were always with him, they have always supported him and inspired hope. Transferred to the reserve, Soloviev Nikolai went to work at the mine, where he started to work to service in the army. At present he works as a mechanic at the "Select-Intrans" in the city of Novocherkassk. And his wife, Solovieva L.V. works at school №19. She is a psychologist. For the young men Nicholai is an example of courage and valor of the Soviet soldier-internationalist.

Yashchuk Alexander Mitrofanovich (27.09.1962)

Alexander was born on September 27, 1962. He grew in the International settlement. He graduated the eight-year international school №19 and entered the shipbuilding school in the city of Sevastopol. Alexander was a good student at school and in college. He became a good friend, honest and fair, hardworking and cheerful. He always helped his comrades. They have always appreciated him for that and respected him.

Yaschuk A. M. served in Afghanistan. He became a part of a limited contingent of Soviet troops in Afghanistan in 1982. The service was difficult and full of danger. Young Democratic Republic of Afghanistan waged a difficult war of attrition with the bandits "dushmans". Soviet soldiers carried out their internationalist duty in the territory. They helped the Afghan people defend it. Alexander had to be accompanied by a column of cars, protecting them from the dushmans' attack. They often had to engage in the battle with unequal forces of the enemy and the moment our soldiers showed their courage and bravery.

Once they had to accompany the convoy during twilight. There were 27 caravans of cars there. When the column was held, grenade explosions and the sounds of machine guns could be heard ahead. It was a dark southern night. Machinery with guards could not quickly pass through a narrow part of the passage, and the soldiers were forced to move at a run to the aid of their comrades who fought a close fight with mujaheds. The fight was short, but hot. Dushmans retreated. Alexander received a serious knife wound in the arm during the battle. He was in the hospital. Then he was awarded the Order of the Red Star. Alexander is a great friend and a comrade. He sometimes corresponds with his comrades.

Alexander grew up in a large family and he loves children very much. He really missed his brothers and sisters when he was looking at Afghan children. In his spare time, he enjoyed playing with young Afghans.

After serving in Afghanistan Yashchuk A. M. studied at the School of Interior Ministry in Grozny town. Nowadays Alexander Mitrofanovich is a district inspector in the Oktyabrsky district. His grandson Maxim is a student of 6 form at school №19, too. He is proud of his granddad and tells his classmates and teachers about him.
