1-3 slide.The Great Patriotic War was a part of the Second World War (WWII).It started 22June,1941. Germany attacked our country with bombing and distruction,killing peaceful people :women, children.The aim of this war was to make Russian people slaves and capture the treasures of our country.
But Russian people stood up to defend the country from the enemy. They were dying in mortal combats but didn’t step away.
Slide 4-5.The western part of our country was occupied, some cities were blocked. We remember the heroic defense of Leningrad (now Saint Petersburg). The blockade of Leningrad had been lasting for 900 days. Two million people died from hunger but they didn’t allow the enemy to enter the city. On the picture you can see 150 gr of black bread. It’s all they had to eat for a day.
Slide6-7.Our town, Novgorod Velikiy, was occupied by the Nazy in August, 1941.They destroyed it and left only 40 boxes of buildings.All museums were robbed, even gold domes of St. Sophia Cathedral were cut into pieces to take them away. Here you can see the figures of statues from the Monument to the Millenium of Russia. They were prepared to bring to Germany. But Novgorod was freed 20 January,1944 and the Nazy didn’t have time enough to implement their plans.
Slide8.The Great Patriotic War was finished 9,May, 1945. Our country won but lost 27 million of people in this terrible war: soldiers and peaceful people. But we remember them and honor those who defended our freedom. Who comes with a sword will die by the sword. These words said by Alexander Nevskiy are in our hearts and we will always keep the memory of those who gave our lives for us.Everlasting flame will never stop burning.
