Astrakhan is a city with beautiful architecture and dozens of cultural and historical monuments. Today we will talk about the attraction of the Astrakhan region, Mount Big Bogdo.

The mountain is located in the Astrakhan region, in the Akhtubinsky district and belongs to the territory of the Bogdinsko-Baskunchaksky reserve. Nearby are the villages of Upper Baskunchak, as well as Middle and Lower Baskunchak.

Its foot is covered with screes formed during gradual long-term exposure to winds. Because of this, the rocks acquired an unusual shape.

Bogdo consists of many karst sinkholes, winding caves, as well as grottoes and is covered with limestone and clay. The largest cave is approximately 1.5 km long.

The legend about the emergence of Bogdo says that previously this hill was located in the Ural steppes.
