• The capital of Karachaevo-Cherkessia Respublik is Cherkessk. The old name of Cherkessk was Batalpachinsk. It is situated on the bank of the Kuban River.
• Cherkessk is a busy city. Over 10 8 thousand people live there.
• Today I'll tell you about the sights of Cherkessk I'll show you the most interesting places.

• Cherkessk, a former Cossack village called Batal-paihinskaya until 1931, is the capital of Karachay-Cherkessia Republic . lt is now a modern industrial and cultural centre with a population of over 10 8 thousand people , including representatives of 80 nationalities. The city has a theatre which puts on plays in three languages (Karachay, Circassian and Russian). A number of big modern plants have been built here: they manufacture chemical and technical rubber goods, cars, furniture, clothing and footwear. There is also a research institute of economics, language and literature. Specialists for Karachay-Cherkessia and for the neighboring regions are trained at a teacher training college, a road-building technical school, medical and music colleges, and also a technological academy.

• This is the White House on the picture. It consists of three buildings. There is the Presidential Administration. The White House is the main building of the Republic. The White House make a lot of important laws.

• It is a monument to Lenin.
• It was built in honor of the Leader. It is located opposite the White House.

• I recommend you to visit drama theatre which is situated in Lenin Street. There different concerts and plays are often held.

• A lot of interesting and historical facts about KCHR you can learn in Republic Historical Museum. It is situated in Lenin Street too. A lot of people visit it every day.

The center of the town

• The most important place of interest the Victory Park. There are the monuments to the heroes of the Second Great Patriotic War. Who defeated our country from Germany enemies. Every year on Victory Day the citizens come here to put the flowers.

• . Republic library is not far from the the White House. It is full of different interesting and historical books of famous writers. There is a big reading hall in the library where you can sit and work.

• Cherkessk is an educational centre of our Republic. There are 17 secondary schools and a lot of institutes and colleges there . The most famous academy is the Karachaevo – Cherkessier Academy which is situated in Komsomolskay street. There study thousand of young people of our republic.
• Cherkessk is a multinational town. All nationalities live in peace and friendship.
