Do you know about animals in the war?

The objectives of the study:

• to find out the information about animals in the war
• to show the special significance of the relations of people and animals in the wartime
• to know about the “professions” of animals in the war
• to find out the opinion of classmates about the topic

The practical significance

The results of this work can be used at English lessons and extracurricular activities.

Hypothesis

Can animals be named “ The Heroes?”

In those years our smaller brothers fought next to our soldiers . They had not received the titles and orders. They performed feats without knowing about it. They just did what the people taught them and died as humans.

Different animals took parts in the war.

The horses in the war

The horses carried guns, they were in the carts. Many horses fell on the battlefields. They could not hide from bullets.

The pigeons in the war

The pigeons delivered more than 15,000 messages on the war.

The cats in the war

Cats helped to cope with rodents, which began to settle near people.

Soldiers loved to keep them .

Elks in the war

About twenty elks were sent to the army during the war.

Camels in the war

A camel ”Yashka” even participated in the battle for Berlin in 1945.

Dogs in the war

70 000 dogs took part in Great Patriotic war. They went through the war with our soldiers from Moscow to Berlin...

The “professions” of animals

• Communicators ( carried reports)
• Nurses
• Sappers (mine detectors)
• The guards
• Carriers ( carried things)
• Demolishers of tanks and ships ( made explosions)

These dogs found seriously wounded soldiers in the

woods and led the nurses to them.

Sappers (mine detectors)

There were about 6 thousand of these dogs. They found 4 million mines.

Demolishers of tanks and ships

These dogs undermined trains and bridges and were killed.

Dogs - communicators

They paved 8 thousand miles of telephone wire.

Carriers

The historic Victory Parade

This dog got the medal “For military merit”.

There are some monuments to animals in Russia and other countries.

Conclusion

• Military animals have made a huge contribution to the victory of Great Patriotic war.
• We have met with the heroic feat of our "smaller brothers".
• Animals shared with our soldiers the horrors and hardships of the war. They saved many lives and showed rare courage.
• It is hard to imagine our victory without animals.
• Animals like people can be named “Heroes”.
• According to the results of the work we have created the presentation “Animals in Great Patriotic war”.
