Colonial Williamsburg

Colonial Williamsburg

Colonial Williamsburg is the world's largest living history museum. There hundreds of restored, reconstructed and historically furnished buildings re-create a town which was the 18th-century capital of Britain's largest, wealthiest and most populous colony in the New World. Costumed interpreters tell the stories of the men and women of the 18th century--black, white and native American, slave, indentured and free--and the challenges they faced. The story of Colonial Williamsburg is also the story of the beginnings of the American ideas of freedom and equality that ultimately led to the birth of a new nation.
