Population
The total population of Australia is just over 20 million. Majority of the population is made up of descendants of immigrants.
Language
The official language is English. It is known as the Australian version (unofficial name - "strayn"). If written language almost always follows the rules of British English there are many jargons and slang expressions and abbreviations.
National characteristics
Australians are a friendly and happy nation. They love various jokes and always smile. They also appreciate the individuality and independence. That is why every family in Australia has its own house. Australians respect the mobile and sociable people. One of the main qualities of Australians is honesty. They never lie.
National features
They do not have many rules of communication. Various jokes and nicknames are normal.
In Australia people do not use "Mr.", "Mrs.", they prefer to apply the names or nicknames. Also they are against pride and show off.
Greeting regardless of the relationship between people sounds like "gdey" (a good day).
Australians like nature very much . Australians are proud of their yards. They like to create and grow up different trees and flowers.
Australians are very hospitable. They love to gather in big companies and have fun together .

Australia Day
Many years ago on that day the British ships led by Arthur Phillip sailed to the coast of Australia and claimed the rights to this land and organized a British colony.
ANZAC Day
One of the most important national holidays of the country, extending in all states, is Defender's Day or ANZAC Day. This event is celebrated not only in Australia but also in New Zealand. ANZAC Day is celebrated since 1916 and is a day of remembrance for the victims who died in the First and Second World Wars. The name of this festival stands for Australian and New Zealand Army Corps.
Royal Regatta
It is celebrated every second Monday in February. The regatta lasts 2-3 days. In these days a large number of funny activities and competitions are made. Some of them are sailing, boat races, competitions for water skiing and even for Miss Regatta. All the participants and guests are waiting for a spectacular air show and the traditional fireworks display.

All these holidays are very funny. During these days carnivals, fireworks, free food, contests and a lot of entertainment are organized.
