Peace to the World!

Peace to the World! Both old and young, Of every land, of every tongue, They sign their names, sign one and all, Under the clear words that call For Peace throughout the World!

Peace to all countries! Down with war! To live in peace evermore! To build, to work, to sing with glee, To be so happy, well and free, That`s Peace throughout the World!

Victory Day

In our country Victory Day is celebrated by all people in every city, town and village. It is the most important holiday in our country because it brought peace not only for the soviet people but for the people of many countries.

Victory was won at a high price. The Soviet people had to fight against the fascists from the White Sea in the north to the Black Sea in the south.

They defended Moscow and Volgograd and thousands of other towns and villages. They helped the peoples of many other countries to become free from fascism.

The Soviet people not only defended their own country, they saved the world.

But Victory Day is not only a day to remember those who did not come back from the war. It is a day to be proud of all people who took an active part in winning the victory over the fascists and helped the Soviet Army.

Victory day is celebrated by all people.

Young people greet veterans and present

them with flowers. War veterans talk

about the part they played in the battles

of the war and what they doing at present.

Boys and girls listen to the stories

about the battles and heroic deeds of Soviet soldiers.

Do you know that…?

World War II lasted 6 years.

60 countries took part in it.

About 50 million servicemen and civilians were killed in the Second World War.

The Soviet Union lost 20 million of their people.

The Soviet victory at Stalingrad marked the beginning of a radical change in the Second World War.

The Great Patriotic War ended in May , 1945. That spring day of May 9 went down in the history of our country as Victory Day.

I want to fly

Into the blue.

I want to swim

As fishes do.

I want to stretch out

Catastrophically boiling

But never your home moles t.

Than yesterday.

A pink ballerina,

A blue toy soldier!

We`re all having fun!

A brown teddy bear,

A yellow doll!

Bright blue the sky,

Sun up on high –

That was the little boy`s picture.

He drew for you,

Wrote for you, too,

Just to make clear what he drew -

May there always be Mummy,

May there always be me!

My little friend,

Peace is the dream of the people,

Hearts old and young

Never have done

Singing the song you have sung

Soldier lad, stay!

Hear what we say –

War would make all of us losers.

Peace is our prize.

Millions of eyes

Anxiously gaze at the skies .

Down with all war!

We want no more.

People, stand up for your children!

Sing, everyone –

Peace must be won,

Dark clouds must not hide the sun.
