KIY ISLAND
THE WHITE SEA is one the main attractions of the region. Its tides and sandy shores are ideal for a beach rest.
In the Onega Bay of the White Sea there is Kiy Island.
It’s a great place to visit because the landscape is fascinating.
The island is tiny, it is only 1,5 km long and 800 m wide.
The best time to visit Kiy Island is in summer.
In summer near the shore the sea warms up to 22 degrees.
The best way to get there is by boat.
The most famous place to see is Kiy Monastery of Cross, connected to the name of Patriarch Nikon.
If you walk through the island you’ll have a great view of the White Sea.
Hundreds of tourists visit the place in summer and stay at Kiy holiday hotel and summer cottages.
If you visit Kiy Island you will need sportswear, mosquito cream, a fishing rod, a tent for night camping and fishing.
And don’t forget your camera because the scenery is amazing!
