Practice these numbers:

The long hand is the minute hand.

The short hand is the hour hand.

There are 60 minutes on a clock face. So, the minute hand is a long hand.

Skip count by fives to count the minutes with me.

Count the numerals on the clock. There are only 12 hours on a clock face. So, the hour hand is a short hand.

When the minute hand is pointing to 12, read the time as “o’clock”. In this case, the hour hand is pointing to the 3 and it is “three o’clock”.

What time is it?

It is five minutes past three.

What time is it?

It is ten minutes past three.

What time is it?

It is quarter past three.

What time is it?

It is twenty minutes past three.

What time is it?

It is twenty-five minutes past three.

What time is it?

It is half past three.

What time is it?

It is thirty-five minutes past three.

What time is it?

It is fourty minutes past three.

It is twenty minutes to four.

What time is it?

It is fourty past three.

It is quarter to four.

What time is it?

It is fifty past three.

It is ten to four.

What time is it?

It is fifty-five past three.

It is five to four.

What time is it?

It is four o’clock

Remember that the long hand is the minute hand.

And, the short hand is the hour hand.

It’s seven a.m.

It’s time to get up.

It’s nine a.m.

It’s time to wash up.

It’s ten o’clock.

It’s time to walk.

It’s twelve a.m.

It’s time to have dinner.

It’s four p.m.

It’s time to watch TV.

It’s seven p.m.

It’s time to have supper.

It’s nine p.m.

It’s time to sleep.
