 Презентация  “England” используется, как на уроках английского языка, так и во внеурочной деятельности, для  развития иноязычной коммуникативной компетенции. В её основе лежит деятельность, направленная на формирование языковых навыков (лексических, грамматических, фонетических), где  предусматривается выход в речь, направленную в виде вопросов, условно- речевых упражнений.

Geography

Geography

  • England shares land borders with Scotland to the north and Wales to the west. It lies on the island of Great Britain and over one hundred smaller islands. It is washed by the Irish Sea, the Celtic Sea, the North Sea and the English Channel. Plains and low hills cover most of England, but some regions are mountainous. The climate is temperate maritime, with mild temperatures.
Culture

Culture

  • The main language is English and the mostly widespread religion is Christianity. The culture of England has developed over many centuries. English architecture is stunning. There is a huge number of outstanding works of art created by Englishmen in literature (Shakespeare, Austen, Dickens, Orwell, Tolkien, J. K. Rowling etc.) and music (Purcell, Sullivan, The Beatles, Pink Floyd, Queen etc.).
London

London

  • London is the capital of Great Britain, its political, economic and cultural centre. It’s one of the largest cities in the world. Its population is more than 9 million people. London is situated on the river Thames. It was founded more than two thousand years ago.
West End

West End

  • To the west of Westminster is West End, the richest part of London. It is full of luxury hotels, super-markets, cinemas and concert-halls. In the centre of the West End the Trafalgar Square is situated with the famous statue of Lord Nelson.
The Big Ben

The Big Ben

  • The world-known clock. Everyday about 500 tourists come to London to see the Big Ben. Built in 1858, it was named after an architect whose name was Ben (Benjamin). The interesting fact is that you are not allowed to get inside the Big Ben if you aren’t an Englishman. No tourists allowed.

  • Today Scotland is considered to be one of the most beautiful mountainous countries in the world. It is one of the four parts of the United Kingdom. It shares land borders only with England. Its capital and cultural center is Edinburgh.

  • Scotland is well-known for its Loch Ness monster, delicious haggis and traditional festivals. Perhaps, everyone in the world has heard of the famous writer and poet Robert Burns. He was the first person to write songs about the Scottish Highlands and their breathtaking views. It is significant that the highest mountain of the British Isles, Ben Nevis, is also situated in Scotland.

Wales

  • Wales is a part of the United Kingdom. The country borders on England in the east and is washed by the Atlantic Ocean and the Irish Sea in the west. Wales is not a very big country with a population of about three million people. There are two official languages in Wales – Welsh and English, both of which are taught in schools.
Northern Ireland

Northern Ireland

  • Northern Ireland is one of the four countries of the United Kingdom. It is situated in the northeastern part of the island of Ireland including Rathlin Island and several smaller offshore islands. The country is washed by the North Channel and by the Irish Sea. The population of Northern Ireland is about 1.7 million people.
Belfast

Belfast

  • Belfast is the capital and largest city of Northern Ireland. Among other major cities we can mention Armagh, Derry, Lisburn and Newry.

  • Shamrock is the symbol of Northern Ireland. It is associated with Saint Patrick, the Saint patron of Ireland
