BURNS SUPPER

Burns Supper also known as Robert Burns Day is celebrated on the twenty-fifth of January and is a national holiday in Scotland.

Robert Burns is the greatest poet of Scottish and English literature; his poems are known all over the world and were translated into many languages. He lived in the eighteenth century. His democratic and revolutionary poetry made him a national poet and brought him closer to the countrymen. Robert Burns was born on the twenty-fifth of January that's why this date became a holiday.

A big festive supper which consists the strict order of dishes is the main event of the holiday. All the dishes were mentioned by the poet in his works. At the beginning before the eating all guests say the special grace in Scottish. Then the supper begins. It includes dishes of Scottish cuisine. The meeting is accompanied by bagpipes music and declaring special Burns' poems. The greatest Scottish and English poet is very famous and respected for his poetry for songs. People still know and love the songs written on Robert Burns poems.
