Welcome to Sudislavl!

Sudislavl is located 50 kilometres northeast of Kostroma. It is located at the fork of roads Kostroma - Galich and Kostroma - Manturovo.

Sudislavl was founded in 1360 by Prince Sudislav.

Coat of arms

The Coat of arms was created in1867.

The pine trees represent the natural wealth of the area.

The Purple Cross represents Sudislavl as a town with rich Orthodox traditions.

Transfiguration Cathedral

The symbol of Sudislavl is Transfiguration Cathedral. Transfiguration Cathedral was built in 1758 on a high hill. The hill is known, as the Cathedral hill. The architectural ensemble is located on this hill. At the beginning of the 19 th century two chapels: the Nativity of Christ and Saint Nicholas were attached to its refectory.

The local Museum .

The museum was opened in 1967 in Sudislavl . The museum was originally located in a small room of the administrative building. The museum moved to the former house of Sokolov in 1994. In the museum you can see not only different exhibits but also visit musical-literary salon "Alexandra."

Sudislavsky fur farm

The joint stock compony “Sudislavl” is one of Russia`s largest fur farms. Here they grow minks, foxes, sables, nutrias. They make fur coats, fur hats, fur toys and many other things.

Ivan Tretyakov

Sudislavl is famous for its people. One of them is a rich merchant Ivan Tretyakov. He was an not only a wealthy man, but also generously shared his wealth with his countrymen. His ministering work was very considerable, he was an honorary member of many charitable organizations. A school and a hospital were opened in Sudislavl on the initiative of Tretyakov.

There are some monuments in Sudislavl. Here you can see a monument to the heroes of the Great Patriotic War and the monument to Lenin.
