SPORT IN KALMYKIA

Sport is one of important aspects of life in Kalmykia.

There are a lot of kinds of sport which are popular in our republic:

football , gymnastics , fight , taekwondo , chess and many others.

ELISTA IS THE CAPITAL OF CHESS

In 1998 there was a Chess Olympiad in Elista.

A lot of chess grandmasters from all over the World came to Kalmykia to play chess.

In our days City Chess is a sight of Elista, tourist come to Kalmykia to see it.

FOOTBALL TEAM “URALAN”

“ Uralan” was found in 1958 in Elista.

In 1997 the team got to football Premier League of Russia.

The best result which “Uralan” showed in Premier League was the 8 th place.

In our days “Uralan” plays in the 3 rd Division of the football League. Let’s which them success.
