I n May the “ Labor day ” is celebrated . O n May 1 demonstrations of different political organizations are he ld . The symbol of the holiday is the red carnation.

On May 5 the “ Christoff’s Rise ” is celebrated. This holiday symbolizes Chirst’s rise on heaven to God , to the father , Christ’s rescue and his revival. The holiday symbol are pigeons wh ich are put out in to the sky.

On May 5 the Germans are awaiting the “ Day of the father ” eagerly . It has been a n official holiday since 1936. It is celebrated very jollily – men form the company and go to the country without women taking with themselves carts in which there is alcohol and nourishing snack.

On May 8 the “Mother’s Day” is celebrated . T he holiday has been officially celebrated since 1933. This day m others are given flowers, small souvenirs, pleasant trifles, surprises and hot kisses. The main gift on Mother’s Day is attention.

On May 10 there is a holiday called the “Day of the book”. This date is chosen not incidentally. On May 10, 1933 in Berlin and other cities there was a barbaric act of books burning not pleasing to Hitler’s regime. Twenty thousand books were burnt only in Berlin.

On May 12 the “Jazz Rally Festival in Dusseldorf” is held . These are 80 concerts on 30 scenes, 500 groups and performers who turn Dusseldorf into the city of music for several days .

On May 13 the “Festival of Gothic music and art” is commemorated . It is held in Leipzig . People celebrate the festival with white -and-black terrible make-up, black long hair and unimaginable dresses.

On May 15 the “The Dixie land festival in Dresden” is rejoiced . It is the international festival of jazz and blues music. It has been annually held since 1971 in the middle of May. More than five hundred thousand admirers gather for the festival. All city dances and sings under incendiary music.

On May 26 the “Holiday of a body and Christ’s blood” is held . It is annually celebrated on the second Thursday. T his holiday is full of richly decorated processions which are held on the streets of the cities.

On May 28 people in Germany is looking forward to the “Day of strawberry”. Since 1999 in Oberkirkhe , the German town , the tasty and cheerful festival of strawberry has been held. During two days fairs, presentations, tastings, concerts, fashionable displays, dancing shows and theatrical performances take place here. Everyone can get any amount of the tastiest strawberry.
