Lesson’s steps
1. Greeting. Good morning, children, glad to see you again!
2. Introducing the topic of the unit/ Completing a quiz упр. 1, стр. 78
- Refer Ss to the quiz and elicit what they know about classical music.
- Have Ss complete the quiz and compare their answers with a partner.
3. Understanding/Identifying the comparative and superlative упр. 2а, стр. 78
- Refer Ss to the Grammar Reference section and review it with the class. Emphasise that
the comparative is used to compare two persons or things while the superlative is
used to compare more than two persons or things.
- Have Ss read the quiz again and find all the comparatives and superlatives to complete
the table in the rubric.
-Ask various Ss to share their answers to check with the class.
b) Forming comparatives and superlatives (irregular forms) упр. 2б, стр. 78
-Write the headings adjective and adverb on the board. Beneath the headings write
subheadings: comparative and superlative.
- Elicit from Ss how the comparative and the superlative are formed in each case and
write the answers under the correct heading.
4. Practising comparative and superlative forms упр. 3, стр. 78
-Have Ss compete the task.
- Elicit answers and check.
5. Understanding phrases of comparison упр. 4, стр. 78
- Have Ss read the sentences.
- Elicit answers to the questions in the rubric and ask Ss to explain their choices.
- As an extension, have Ss make up their own sentences with the phrases in bold and check.
